Publisher's Summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author Janet Evanovich returns with the launch of a blockbuster new series that blends wild adventure, hugely appealing characters, and pitch-perfect humor, proving once again why she’s “the most popular mystery writer alive” (The New York Times).

Lost something? Gabriela Rose knows how to get it back. As a recovery agent, she’s hired by individuals and companies seeking lost treasures, stolen heirlooms, or missing assets of any kind. She’s reliable, cool under pressure, and well trained in weapons of all types. But Gabriela’s latest job isn’t for some bamboozled billionaire, it’s for her own family, whose home is going to be wiped off the map if they can’t come up with a lot of money fast.

Inspired by an old family legend, Gabriela sets off for the jungles of Peru in pursuit of the Ring of Solomon and the lost treasure of Cortez. But this particular job comes with a huge problem attached to it - Gabriela’s ex-husband, Rafer. It’s Rafer who has the map that possibly points the way to the treasure, and he’s not about to let Gabriela find it without him.

Rafer is as relaxed as Gabriela is driven, and he has a lifetime’s experience getting under his ex-wife’s skin. But when they aren’t bickering about old times, the two make a formidable team, and it’s going to take a team to defeat the vicious drug lord who has also been searching for the fabled ring. A drug lord who doesn’t mind leaving a large body count behind him to get it.

The Recovery Agent marks the start of an irresistible new series that will have you clamoring for more and cheering for the unstoppable Gabriela Rose at every turn.

Critic Reviews

"Fans of Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, also narrated by Lorelei King, will welcome this new series featuring recovery agent Gabriela Rose. Unlike Stephanie, Gabriela is highly competent, fearless, gunslinging, and a successful businesswoman. King’s voice for Gabriela conveys her strong, confident personality. To save her family’s hometown from ruin, Gabriela pursues an ancient treasure, a ring known as the Seal of Solomon. She reluctantly teams up with her ex-husband, Rafer. Listeners go on an action-packed, deadly quest across continents." (AudioFile Magazine)

Should be YA

This was the first Janet Evanovich Book I’ve listen to him, although I’m 80 and have been legally blind for a few .

The brief description of the book sounded like it might be fun, which it was for the most part, but with no depth and Had everything from lost treasure, poisonous snakes, cults, drug cartels. You name it it’s in here.

Was mildly amusing at times but a as I said I think it’s something some older kids or teens might enjoy. I have enjoyed a number of YA books but the subject matter of this particular one has been overworked to death.

Blindly dictated to a severely dyslexic iPad

Baaaaaaad

I have lived 25 years in Ecuador, good grief this story is a pile of garbage! I don’t say this lightly as I have enjoyed many Stephanie Plum novels.

New Character -same book

I was looking forward to reading a new series, but it turns out this is the same formula as Stephanie Plum series-down to the quirky grandmother. Disappointing and predictable.

Fun and adventurous

I have been a fan of Janet Evanovich for years and years. The Stephanie Plum series holds a special place in my heart. So when I found out she was going to start a new series with a new leading lady, I was ecstatic. And The Recovery Agent did not disappoint.

If you need something found, Gabriela Rose is the woman to call. She travels the world recovering artifacts and missing treasures. Her most recent mission: To find the lost Ring of Solomon so she can use the money to help her hometown. She heads to Peru with her hot ex-husband and the help of some sketchy but sweet, maybe drug pushers. They find a crazy cult and lot more than she bargained for.

I honestly loved Gabriela and Rafer so much. They were married in the past but haven't seen each other in a long time. Their banter was so funny and I loved watching them kind of re learn each other. The side characters were also a lot of fun.

Overall this book was a wild ride. There was action, romance and humor--- everything I love in a book. Janet Evanovich has a way of writing a mixture of the three in a way that makes me love every single character. Including the villain. I can not wait to see what adventure Gabriela goes on next.

Good story but…..

Janet Evavovich is known for her unique humor and dialogue. This book is missing some of the snappy, humorous dialogue. The story is however, a good story with an interesting progression.

miss the comedy

Good book but I miss the slapstick from her other books. Lorelei is great narrator, but somehow didn't seem right for this one. Still, I did enjoy it.

Fun

New characters but slightly similar to Stephanie Books. Easy to listen too. Great fun while dog walking.

It’s funny and exciting

At the time the book started I questioned whether I was going to like the story. I stuck it out and then I realized it’s comical. It’s a very intriguing subject and adventurous but it’s comical in the telling of it.
