Publisher's Summary

The number one international best-selling author of Pretty Little Wife returns with another thrilling domestic suspense novel that asks, how many wives and girlfriends need to disappear before your family notices?

Elisa Wright is a mom and wife, living a nice, quiet life in a nice, quiet town. She’s also convinced her brother-in-law is a murderer. Josh has one dead wife and one missing fiancée, and though he grieved for them he starts dating someone new. Elisa fears for that woman’s safety, and she desperately wants to know what happened to her friend, Josh’s missing fiancée.

Searching for clues means investigating her own family. And she doesn’t like what she finds. A laptop filled with incriminating information. Other women.

But when Elisa becomes friends with Josh’s new girlfriend and starts to question things she thinks are true, Elisa wonders if the memories of a horrible incident a year ago have finally pushed her over the edge and Josh is really innocent. With so much at stake, Elisa fights off panic attacks and a strange illness. Is it a breakdown or something more? The race is on to get to the truth before another disappearance because there’s a killer in the family…or is there?

motivations don't make sense

book could have been shortened a fee hours. first 3/4 of book, protagonist whines a lot and is pretty dense not to see what is happening. her husband had no redeeming qualities other than. to treat her like a child and doubt her always, her son is very bratty as well.

when the twist came the motivation of the person did not make any rational sense in my opinion. cannot state.more without spoilers

So many missed opportunities.

This suspense story had potential but was repetitive, and so many details were were just left dangling along the way. Who doesn’t change their locks etc. It could have been a richer, more nuanced thriller. I don’t quite understand why the NYTimes raved about it.

Ugh…. Boring and annoying

I read about 19 chapters then got so painfully bored and irritated by the annoying characters and skipped to chapter 54…. Save your credit. This book is one annoying whining rant.

It was okay

This was super predictable and could have been a 3 hour story instead of the length that it was. It sounded like a bunch of privileged people who didn’t really have to work much and could sit around and plot and scheme and perseverate over a man with secrets. Listen if it’s free and you have a long road trip.

nice

Very interesting, fast paced, nice little who done it. Narration was great. Maybe not so believable but neither are lifetime movies!

Terrible convoluted

Terribly written plot- too many characters and poorly written. Convoluted. Does not flow well. Could have been a good suspense but very disappointing

Not as thrilling as other of this authors books

Lacked a lot of the thrilling twists that Pretty Little Wife had. The ending was predictable .

Could have been a little shorter…

I don’t usually deep dive the characters too much (they’re fictional characters) but the main character’s naïveté made it kind of annoying. She was both on point and so oblivious, I found myself shouting at the phone a few times. Could have been a couple of hours shorter, lots of repetitive plots. But overall, good.

Not worth it

This book had some mildly interesting aspects, but the characters were not believable, nor were their motivations. Relationships felt inconsistent. Plot points were redundant. The end was highly unsatisfying. Reader did fine, but there are so many far better books out there.

Oh dear

Wish I could finish these silly books. The narrator Karissa Vacker whispers her performance. It’s really laughable. The story is obvious bad brother in law kills women he is involved with, sister-in-law discovers his wickedness and steps closely to death. Well that’s what I think it’s about. Stupid. Badly written too
