Good information

This book to help me realize the importance of resistance training. However, it is probably better suited to buy the actual book since it has a lot of information that you will need to refer back to which is hard to do with an audible.

Perfect Resource for Beginners

I began strength training at my local gym about a month ago after finding the Mind Pump podcast. I have already started to notice an improvement in my overall health, but I needed more direction for the long term. I was very excited to hear that Sal was releasing a book, and was not disappointed! The audio is only a few hours long, but packed full of tons of great information. I appreciate that he does not "fluff" the book with tons of unnecessary info. The book gives very practical information which I believe can be easily adapted to any person, regardless of fitness level or expertise. Definitely a great all-around guide to fitness and long term health!

A little bit of background about me, for those interested: I am a 28 year old female, who was athletic for most of my life and never had problems with weight. After graduating college and starting a career, life got busy and I found myself gaining a few pounds a year despite my level of activity being more than average (I'm on my feet at work all day, and like to mountain bike, hike, etc. in my spare time).

I discovered I was overweight for the first time last year at a doctor's appointment, and went on my first calorie restricted diet in my life (but was not exercising much due to COVID). After a few months I lost about 15 lbs and plateaued... HARD. I decided to accept the weight I was at and go back to maintenance calories but within several months I had gained every pound back.

After that experience, I knew something was wrong, and I was looking for a different approach to weight loss that doesn't destroy the metabolism. I think I have found the right way, in strength training and in this book.

Although my journey is still in progress, I am very happy with the results thus far and can't wait to apply Sal's book to my workout routine. I will try to update my review later with results. I am just so grateful that there is a resource like this out there! Thank you!

Definitely for beginners.

If you’re a beginner to the fitness world, then this book will be a great resource for you! A lot of good information.

I am not a beginner, I’ve been weightlifting for several years now so there wasn’t much new to learn in this book. That’s why the low rating. If you’re an advanced lifter, go elsewhere.

Not much useful content

Nothing much to learn if you’ve listened to even a few MindPump podcasts. Save your money. Looking over author’s increasingly political social media, I’m not sure his content is trustworthy.

Challenging and Good Training Advice

A book for this current era of sedentary lifestyle and processed foods in modern day developed culture. Sal wrote on what he constantly puts forward in their mind pump podcast discussions and packaged it into a guide that we can use to constantly reevaluate our lifestyle. As well as a challenge to move away from cardio-based to a resistance training approach for meaningful results.

the transition from cardio to weight training outlined by Sal in this book EXPONENTIALLY propelled my success to drop the “stubborn” poundage and sculpt a body i feel most confident in. change your habits, adjust your relationship with food and exercise and set your self further and further away from your peers as life goes on…you will be sure to turn some heads at the next family or class reunions. thanks Sal & MindPump!

Packed full of information.

This is one of those books I recommend owning a physical copy of along with the audiobook. I'm not new to lifting, but I'm starting from the bottom. I'm already seeing small differences where I need simple changes.

Great listen (trigger warning big you love cardio)

I have been listening to mind pump for years and this is a great book that compresses all that information. It does bash cardio a bit but it comes from a good place and understanding. keep up the great work guys. My wife is going to listen to this next

Breaking preconceived notions

I am not reading much in this space as I thought my understanding to training was ok. I embark on a goal early this year to get leaner but got stuck on my weight for 2 months without results (visible too), and going to the gym 6 times a week… I thought I needed to pause and look for answers. I bumped into the MindPump podcast, then headed to Sal’s website and Amazon for this book. What a book!! Completely changed my understanding to training. Very good all around, intuitive nutrition, calorie intake, training approach, how often, etc I am now going through unlearning my learning and rebuild my whole approach to training. Early to give a result as I have started 2 weeks ago but looking forward to seeing some change. Will see 😁

Good book for people new to mindpump

Enjoyed listening to this even tho it seems like all points covered in it has been discussed at length in the podcast for free. I'd still recommended tho to have all those points in one place for reference

Listen to MindPump, seriously.

Sal covers the topic in his normal professional manner, ensuring all who listen are able to comprehend and absorb his decades of research in the fitness field.

Just like his podcast (MindPump) with Adam Schafer, Justin Andrews, and Doug Egge. The information is backed by clinical studies and peer reviewed papers confirmed in the field before brought ahead to the public.

If you're unsure about where to start your fitness or health journey. Start here. But if still not sure, listen to their podcast as it's free.

I learnt so much and feel super pumped to amp up my resistance training.
I've been doing some anyway so this was very validating but now I understand it all so much better...HOW and WHY it is the best training out there and I'm keen to amp it up and not only get the results I seek but MAINTAIN them because the recommendations are pragmatic...realistic ... totally doable!
