Publisher's Summary

It took me a while to learn that sometimes no matter how much–or how hard–you love someone, or something, you have to let them go. You can’t save a sinking ship.

Sometimes, you have someone else you have to be strong for, who needs you more. You make a choice; a devastating one. And you hope, maybe one day, they’ll come back to you.

a must listen after book 1

okay, I was super hesitant to buy this one. book 1 ripped my heart out and I did not pay close enough attention to realize a child dies (which is my biggest fear). so after that stab to the heart I wasn't sure I wanted to continue because what could possibly culminate to a HEA after that? the reviews Audible showcased didn't help. they said the book was sappy, etc. however, I had to gamble on a happy ending. I couldn't leave my heart there at the most painful part. I am so glad I did. this book wasn't a steamy forbidden/taboo romance but the love story and rebuild from heartbreak was messy yet so satisfying. I loved the plot development and how it makes such beauty out of the grit of real life.

What a rollercoaster!

I had a love/hate with the first book but this book blew me away with how it hit so close to home in the end. I was a blubbering and snotty mess and it really sealed the deal with this duet. I thought I hated it for the raw emotions it made me feel, but it’s only the opposite. I love it. It wrecked me and healed me and the narration was so beautiful too. 10 stars out of 5!!

Kind of sappy

I like a good HEA but I felt like I got that 1/3 of the way into the book. There wasn’t much conflict, all the internal dialogue was too perfect and I felt like Thayer’s personality was different. Perfect for real life, kind of sappy and boring for entertainment. I liked the first book much, much better, unfortunately.

Cute but, the storyline is a bit flat.

I had wanted to see how this story ended so much I pre-ordered it and patiently waited for the day to arrive. I listened to it on release day and I can’t help but feel underwhelmed. This did tie up loose ends, but it never really climaxed. Although it was a bit flat, it was cute and I now know how their story closes. The first book was excellent and held its weight. Maybe this would have been better melded together as one longer book.
