Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author S. A. Chakraborty’s acclaimed Daevabad Trilogy gets expanded with this new compilation of stories from before, during, and after the events of The City of BrassThe Kingdom of Copper, and The Empire of Gold, all from the perspective of characters both beloved and hated, and even those without a voice in the novels. The River of Silver gathers material both seen and new - including a special coda fans will need to hear - making this the perfect complement to those incredible novels.

Now together in one place, these stories of Daevabad enrich a world already teeming with magic and wonder. Explore this magical kingdom, hidden from human eyes. A place where djinn live and thrive, fight and love. A world where princes question their power, and powerful demons can help you…or destroy you.

A prospective new queen joins a court whose lethal history may overwhelm her own political savvy....

An imprisoned royal from a fallen dynasty and a young woman wrenched from her home cross paths in an enchanted garden....

A pair of scouts stumble upon a secret in a cursed winter wood that will turn over their world....

From Manizheh’s first steps toward rebellion to adventures that take place after The Empire of Gold, this is a must-have collection for those who can’t get enough of Nahri, Ali, and Dara and all that unfolded around them.

River of Silver is perfect for Daevabad fans

Absolutely loved this anthology! It perfectly fits into the gaps along the main Daevabad Trilogy, and further fleshes out characters both well-known and barely seen. I love having more stories with these characters and while it ends on such satisfying and promising notes, I also cannot help but want more. 💖

The audio performance was also great and really brought the scenes and characters to life.

this is such an incredible addition to one of my very favorite series ever! I wish this went on for another 10 hours. I was so happy to find this extra little piece to the Daevabad world, but I flew these stories so fast! why didn't I savor it more? why is it over??

Well performed, but weak set of short stories

Some good stories here, but overall weak and disjointed, with no cohesive arc to center each story. A pleasant dip back into the world of magic Chakraborty has created, with some highlights. The short pieces set before and after the main series are the strongest, adding new dimensions to characters.

The ones set during the series are the weakest, they add little to what we are already told of those characters, and do little to develop them. It is good those middle chapters were not included in the mainline series.

I loved this series!

I loved listening to the four book series! I really, really hope there will be more of this series in the future! I recommend this series to everyone. 5 stars all around, 6 stars for the performance, as that can make or break a book you listen to. Happy, happy!

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to more of the story to be continued instead you tried to fill in back story that really wasn't needed

Same good characters but not the 'book' I wanted

I still gave the title 3 stars because honestly I just enjoy the characters so much, but did not like the random short stories that happened in different timelines. As an audiobook, I was reading while doing other activities and the random timeline skips were annoying to recall what the ending of each book was in order to know how the sorry sorry was supposed to make sense/fit in

Beautiful

My heart absolutely aches with how beautiful this addition to the world of Daevabad was to read! I miss my loves Nahri and Dara and Ali so much, and seeing other characters again was just… perfect.

Chakraborty Does It Again

The Daevabad Trilogy is my favorite series; I’ve read it three times. I enjoyed it in both ebook and audiobook, but this was the first time I experienced Chakraborty’s work through the audio version first. I was not disappointed. Soneela Nankani is an excellent narrator as usual. She brings every scene and every character to life.

This anthology was an absolute treasure! It was so interesting to see Daevabad from new perspectives as well as learning more about the usual suspects. I was completely enthralled. Every chapter was a gift, but my favorites were Manizeh and Duriya.

There were things I didn't even know I wanted that The River of Silver delivered. I’m not usually thrilled about prequels or anthologies, but this was a real treat.
