Story
Falling stars are supposed to be a lucky sign, but not for Austen. Her new job as a secretary in an international games company isn't off to a good start. Her first assignment - decorating the Christmas tree in the lobby - results in a trip to the ER after Dee, the company's second-in-command, gets hit by the star-shaped tree topper. Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She's determined not to act on it, especially since Austen has no idea that Dee is practically her boss.

Dr. Hope Finlay loves her job as an emergency room physician, especially since it allows her only brief encounters with her patients. She learned early in life not to get attached to anyone because it never lasts. Laleh Samadi, a waitress at her aunt’s restaurant, is the exact opposite. She easily connects with people and loves her big, boisterous Persian family, despite their tendency to meddle in her life. When Laleh needs to be rushed to the ER with heart trouble, Hope saves her life. Afterwards, strange things begin to occur.

She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Nice story
This story is very predictable, but I enjoyed it anyway. I appreciated that it did not have all the same anxiety inducing drama as a lot of lesfic does. The writing is good and that is something I really appreciate. The narration is ok, however the “Steph” voice was a little grating to me.

Comedian Stephanie Renshaw returns to La and needs a roommate to afford a great apartment near the comedy clubs. When a friend recommended Rae Coleman a Security Guard at the club it’s a chance. They just have to pretend to be in a relationship as the landlord only takes couples. A funny romance with touching stories. Great performance. Recommend.

Emotionally intense
The chairacter's had district and believable voices and by the end you can really connect with what they were going through. I do thing there were a few parts that were filler and a little drawn out, but over all I would definitely recommend if you enjoy emotional depth in your books.

Jae usually comes up with great stories- this was no exception- loved the characters- laughter and tears in this one- i have used audible with a book i had already read and loved- the narrator was ok, but Lorie Prince must be in high demand! Changing voices and even making me blush during the love scenes- she was fantastic- hope to find her narrating another great romance-

Funny and sweet
I really love the way the characters are build, stories are sweet and heartwarming. I like how she portraits healthy relationships with a little bit of drama, even when there are some strong emotions involved they are always a part of the internal struggle of each character instead of just pure drama allowing a really satisfying growth and natural development of the relationship.

Laboured and predictable
The concept of the story is okay, but it’s delivery was pretty dull to be honest. Parts of the book dragged on without anything really happening.
Ray’s ‘emotional trauma’ was self indulgent, predictable and boring. The usual, ‘Someone died and it’s all my fault’ theme when in actuality the death wasn’t even remotely her fault.
The depiction of Steph’s parents as patronising, vegan psychologists was a bit lame as well. There was a lot of negative stereotypes about both vegan food and psychologists in the book which I found unnecessary and cliche (I’m neither a psychologist or a vegan by the way) with the usual references to ‘rabbit food’ and being constantly ‘psychoanalysed’ being boring, predictable and unnecessary, without any meaningful addition to the story.
It just made easy targets of vegans and made a false depiction of what psychologists actually do.
I’ve read a lot of this author’s books and enjoyed them, but I can honestly say this one was a waste of my time and a precious credit.
