Publisher's Summary

The days are getting colder, and food is growing more scarce for Aiyre, a pronghorn shapeshifter, and her clan as they prepare for another long, hard winter. To make matters worse, a neighboring clan of shapeshifting sabertooths is causing problems and encroaching on their hunting grounds. When tragedy strikes her village, Aiyre will find herself turning for help to the most unlikely of places. But can she ever really trust the word of a sabertooth?

Daerk knows that the pressure between the sabertooth and pronghorn clan is coming to a head, but he's hesitant to challenge his leader without the backing of his people. His plans change after he meets a woman from the pronghorn clan whose tantalizing scent leaves him with a sneaking suspicion that she's his mate. He'll do anything to protect her, even tear his own clan in two. There's only one problem he can't face. Will she ever love him in return?

I loved this book!💜

This shifter story was a little different than what I’ve read before but I really enjoyed it!
A war between packs, shifter mates, despair, love and danger. This story had it all.
The narration by Logan McAllister was absolutely perfect.
I recommend this book!

Daerk and Aiyre

While this is a prehistoric historical paranormal romance it doesn't have a dry prudish way about it! Which personally I love! I have a problem with historical romances for that reason. But I love shifter romances and I've really enjoyed Lily Thomas' books!

This story is a great twist on the shifter romance. While she's a shifter her type of shifter doesn't have fated mates. There is also the whole predator vs. prey figuratively and literally lol.

A different kind of shifter tale

The narration was good and much effort was made to give each character their own sound but somehow or other the voice just really grated on me. I can't define why though.
I really liked that there was some alternate POVs in this. Also a rather refreshing take on the shifter genre with the prehistoric viewpoint.
Aiyre is trying to find a way to help her clan, the Pronghorns, survive the winter. They have always just about scraped by but now there is another clan, the Sabertooths, who have moved in and seem to be taking all their game while at the same time accusing the Pronghorns of decimating the hunts. Daerk is a Sabertooth but when he catches the scent of Aiyre he knows she is his mate. Could this even be possible between two such opposing clans? There is mystery and mayhem here as well as romance.
