Adair Thorne has just watched his gaming-hell dream disappear into a blaze of fire and ash, and he’s certain that his competitors, the Killorans, are behind it. His fury and passion burn even hotter when he meets Cleopatra Killoran, a tart-mouthed vixen who mocks him at every turn. If she were anyone else but the enemy, she’d ignite a desire in him that would be impossible to control. No one can make Cleopatra do anything. That said, she’ll do whatever it takes to protect her siblings - even if that means being sponsored by their rivals for a season in order to land a noble husband.

Publisher's Summary
London, 1822.
Thanks to her older siblings, Lady Penelope Tidemore is no stranger to scandal. In order for her to make a good match, her secret longings for intrigue and romance must be quelled. Yet it is through terrible mischance that Penelope is caught in a compromising position - however innocent - with the darkly enigmatic viscount Ryker Black.
Mr. Black is no gentleman. Raised from the streets and proprietor of the most notorious gaming hell in London, Black lives in a world filled with debauchery and danger. Taking a Society wife from the very ton he despises is not part of his plan, even if the innocent Penelope turns his blood hot with desire.
But Penelope isn't afraid of Mr. Black, and she soon discovers that his reputation as a scoundrel may be designed to hide a surprising vulnerability. As this unlikely husband and wife grow closer, they learn that what started as chance could end up sealing their fates.

DISAPPOINTING ENDING!!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes the ending !!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Tell me how the villain Broderick Killoran was mad to suffer for attempting to murder the heroine.
What happen to the Duke Rykers father in the story. There relationship should have been restored.
Have you listened to any of Tim Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Tim Campbell is Excellent narrator and yes I have listen to him before
What would have made this romance irresistible?
The Romance was very good. It was the unresolved issue the book seem to have lacked resolution to some of the problems that occur n the storyline
Any additional comments?
The Scoundrel's Honor was and excellent romantic story up until the end. What the heck happen?
Ryker Black, owner of the Gaming Hell named the Hell & Sin Club has recently be titled the new Viscount of Chatham. Ryker is also the Bastard son of a Duke. The Duke who you meet in book 1 The Rogues Wager is a wonderful man who loved his illegitimate children. Ryker was stolen at birth from the Dukes Mistress. Rykers mother right after birth and sold to Mac Diggory a real Thug of the streets of St. Giles. He abused Ryker with beatings mock hangings. It was just awful the child abuse Ryker suffered. But Ryker blames is father the Duke who was told he died at birth. This story goes unresolved between the Duke and Ryker. I thought at the end he would finally except his father and they would build a real father and son relationship. His sister Helena whom he saved from being killed by Diggory as a young girl see bk 1. has built a relationship with the Duke once she learned the truth about how she was taken from her father. But the entire story just drops off the pages. Instead the author goes to the easy route. Lets have the villain stab the heroine, same old same old easy cheesy storyline!! Even the villain Broderick Killoran is vaguely handled in the end. What the Heck? he just tried to kill your young wife!!! This is just pure lazy writing.
Lady Penelope/Penny Tidemore 18 years of age. Is a beautifully written character this young girl has guts. After being found in what appears to be a compromising position with Ryker in the gardens at a ball she is attending. She offers herself up to marry the cold hearted man. Remember she is only 18 and the daughter of an Earl. Her brother is the current Earl and there family is full of scandal. So to ensure the proper chances of her younger sister Poppy to make a great match for a husband she marries Ryker and moves from the plush home she has grown up in Mayfair to the slums of St Giles to the Hell and Sin gaming club. Penelope has strength of character and she tries to make her marriage work even with it looks hopeless. This young lady does not loose hope. She slowly but surely breaks brings Ryker around into caring for her then loving her. Penelope is smart, beautiful, proper lady, and very young but I loved her character. Boy was she strong!!
The ending of The Scoundrel's Honor just fall flat about 65 - 70% into the story. Relevant issues are left hanging or barely resolved. Was this pure laziness on the authors part? I don't know what I do know is this story had the potential to be a 5 star story!!

What did you love best about The Scoundrel's Honor?
The ending. What a sweet conclusion to another great book by Christi Caldwell! I love a happy ending; this was one of her best!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Scoundrel's Honor?
Penelope's injury and Ryker's reaction to it. Poppy's first glimpse of Ryker. The ending. Penelope decorating the office.
Have you listened to any of Tim Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes! This one was very well done as usual. I always enjoy his performance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Unfortunately life interrupts.
Any additional comments?
This is one of Christi Caldwell's best! I've become a big fan! I hope Poppy's story is coming soon.

Good narration, bratty heroine
This is the 2nd in the Sinful Suitors series and is about Ryker, the bastard son of a duke who was raised as a street urchin. He now owns a gaming hell. Through a series of contrivances, he is “forced “ to marry Lady Penelope , a member of the haute ton...but just barely. Her family is known for causing scandals.
Though the book was well written and well narrated, I just didn’t believe the premise. For TWO BOOKS we’ve been told that Ryker rules his world, no one challenges him, etc etc. So when faced with a bad rumor that could ruin his club he allows himself to be forced into marrying the person who caused all the trouble? The premise doesn’t fit. He would threaten a newspaper person who owed him $ to run a counter story... because he’s also ruthless and HATES the nobility. He wouldn’t care if he ruined her reputation.
Also, the heroine. The entire book.. until maybe the last 10th of the book, she is a whiny spoiled child. She has no regard for how her actions affect others, but expects everyone to meet her Pollyanna view of the world. She considers it strong when in fact she’s just rude.
But maybe I just don’t like this type of heroine. ( because I really don’t). So though the plot was interesting, I just don’t get this couple.
Be warned. Even though this romance starts and finishes in this one book, the underlying story line of threat, intrigue, and feuding between two gambling hell titans does not. It starts with the 1st book and I’m assuming will end with the 4th.

OMG I didn't want it to end
I thought book 1 was good. Well book 2 was better, Ryker Black with all his rules and hatred and all it took was one little Penny to crumble it all. This book had it all love laughter trust friendship. With the way Ryker was described in The Rogue's Wager who would have imagined he was such a warm and loving person. I absolutely love it wish there was more. Also hats off to Tim Campbell and how he manage to make the characters come alive with his voice

This was my second time listening to this book and my estimation soared with the second listen. I loved the story and I loved the characters. This series has been outstanding to me in that it isn't about the nobility and nobility. I really like the way this author blends nobility and St. Giles folks. I have been waiting for a while to read or listen to Penelope's story. Christie Caldwell has done and excellent job with this one. You can't help but fall in love with Ryker when you listen to TIm Campbell's super sexy voice of Ryker. Of course he always manages to make complete distinctions in each characters voice. Definitely a 5 Star book and audiobook. I personally prefer the audio books as I love the renditions done by great narrators. Don't miss this one! 💗

good if you like pouty virgin brides.
why does "strong' in romance novels seem to mean rude and with no idea about life.
as far as virgin brides go, this one is less annoying than usual.
that isnt saying much.
if you like brides who are naive and oh so daring because they once thought of looking in the door of a gaming club then Penelope is your chick.
if you grew up more like Mr black then Penelope then she will irritate you as much as she did me.
I liked Clara the head of the whores. she would have 100 times more interesting tale than this.
