Publisher's Summary

Sunday Times best-selling author Karen Swan returns with The Secret Path, taking us deep into the heart of the Costa Rican jungle—complete with her trademark romance, glamour and jaw-dropping twists.

An old flame. A new spark.

Love can find you in the most unlikely places.

At only 20, Tara Tremain has everything: she’s a trainee doctor, engaged to the man of her dreams—Alex, a passionate American biology student. But just when life seems perfect, Alex betrays her in the worst way possible.

Ten years later, she’s moved on—with a successful career, good friends and a man who loves her. But when she’s pulled back into her wealthy family’s orbit for a party in the heart of Costa Rica, she’s flung into a crisis: a child is desperately ill and the only treatment is several days’ trek away, deep in the jungle.

There's only one person who can help—but can she trust the man who broke her heart?

Your Costa Rican adventure awaits....

My first Karen Swan book. Wow. What a gem. I won't spoil the story,, but the author's words and narrator (who is excellent) takes you right in situ, in the jungle.. You can feel it. Great plot, twists and turns to keep you hooked. You will like this book. I shall definitely get another!

Absolutely fantastic!!

Karen Swan is my favourite author. Romance yes, but with a really interesting storyline too that makes you not want to stop listening, but also not wanting the book to end. The Narrator was equally fantastic, again my favourite narrator out of all the audio books I’ve listened to over the years.

Disappointing story but well read

I normally love Karen Swann stories and books with the gripping and unseen twists and turns, unfortunately this one fell a bit flat for me. However read wonderfully

Brilliant!

I really did not want this to end. I'm still thinking about it a day on. I want more of these characters and this story. Don't get me wrong it was finished just right but some books and characters I don't want to leave and this is one of them.
The narration was perfect so easy to listen to. Definitely recommend this!

Bear with it

It was a slow start but was an interesting story., not a chick lit. Worth a listen.

Saving the planet stuff

Tara and Alex, too young, but definitely life partners.
Alex pursues his career, leaving Tara behind and devastated.
They meet up again in Costa Rica, which has always been Tara’s family’s holiday destination.
Alex has saved a large swathe of forest in Costa Rica, over the years.
There is mixed feelings among the natives.
The native medicine men are almost magical in their knowledge and cures.

Time lapse on information was annoying and didn’t really serve a purpose.
