Publisher's Summary

The epic finale to the Bone Witch series! As Tea's dark magic eats away at her, she must save the one she loves most, even while her life - and the kingdoms - are on the brink of destruction.

In the eight kingdoms, none have greater strength or influence than the asha, who hold elemental magic. But only a bone witch has the power to raise the dead. Tea has used this dark magic to breathe life into those she has loved and lost...and those who would join her army against the deceitful royals. But Tea's quest to conjure a shadowglass, to achieve immortality for the one person she loves most in the world, threatens to consume her.

Tea's heartsglass only grows darker with each new betrayal. Her work with the monstrous azi, her thirst for retribution, her desire to unmask the Faceless-they all feed the darkrot that is gradually consuming her heartsglass. She is haunted by blackouts and strange visions, and when she wakes with blood on her hands, Tea must answer to a power greater than the elder asha or even her conscience. Tea's life-and the fate of the kingdoms-hangs in the balance.

Only one problem

They changed the pronunciation of a main characters name in the third book. it drove me absolutely crazy and confused me for a while.

...it also bummed me out bc ive rarely heard my name is books and i was just excited about it. lol
i dont think its worth losing a star over, its just consistency.

but thats my only complaint.
the author is fantastic, the writing is beautiful, barely any crutch words, lots of representation, thrilling and bittersweet.
i cried a few times throughout this series and i cant wait to revisit it in the future.

Wow...I really enjoyed the series.

I just completed all three books. Book 3 can be confusing because it constantly jumped from past to present. Once you understand that, the story becomes clearer and made me more invested in understanding the events that occurred. Book 2 did a similar jump, but there was a preamble to each dive into the past.

I fell in love with the mythical creatures and the connection with Tea. Of course the azi is my favorite. Loves stories galore...family, friends, lovers. etc. As with all stories with multi-nations and factions, there is a struggle for power by some, strive for peace by others, and those that fall in between.

It is hard to describe this book without mixing up the events from the prior books because they are all intertwined. I feel that this is the book of answers. One thing that this book is good at is tugging on your heart strings. I felt the sadness, happiness, regretfulness, and a variety of other emotions throughout the series. The ending left me both happy and sad. This series is worth the read and maybe a reread.

It is beautiful. So beautiful.

It is written in a style I'm unfamiliar with, so to understand it the best you must read the series in entirety. The first book will make more sense as you read the last. It is dark and divine, unlike anything I've read. The series has earned its place on my shelves.

So sad it is over

The reading did the entire series justice. I can’t believe how fast it felt listening to this while at work. Can’t wait to listen to more by the author.

My only complaint

They changed the pronunciation of a main character in this last book, which made it sound too similar to another main character. That was confusing and frustrating. However, the story was worth continuing to listen on to the end.

Decent take on modern magical fantasy romance

Very solid narration, and the production quality is improved from the first book, which I had some trouble with due to volume inconsistency. The magic system is fair, and the storytelling is fairly consistent with the pacing. It feels like a writer that is up and coming, so there were places where I felt like exposition and character depth had some room to grow. These books might be a bit dramatic for some, but if you like fantasy with a bit of romance, then this is a good potential series for you. Some nice, modern concerns thrown in, which feels like a not poor attempt at some political correctness and/or acceptance-based conversation. Enjoying the books thus far, and looking forward to seeing how this artist grows.

A twisted plotted ending that wraps everything up

This series has many wonderful things about it:
1) Rich character and vivid world building
2) Minimal PDA (third book)
3) A strong secondary character whose transgendered.
4) The same sex relationships (there are two sets of them) which is entered into the story painlessly and so very welcomed
5) Though the storyline deals with prejudice and hatred it is not towards any of the above mentioned items. (Which was a welcomed, eye opening ideology for the author to make)
6) I believe if you enjoy Sarah J. Mass, Shannon Mayer, K.F. Breene, Amy Bartol, Laura Thalassa, Helen Harper, Laurie Forest, Jay Kristoff, Shelby Mahurin, Margaret Rogerson, Leigh Bardugo, Tricia Levenseller, V.E. Schwab, Annette Marie, Bella Forrest, Erin Morgenstern, C.N. Crawford and or Jennifer L. Armentrout - YOU WILL ENJOY THIS SERIES!!
HAPPY READING!

Loved the series!

I rest loves this series. I didn’t loose interest at al in the book. The only thing I didn’t like at first were all the male names sounding similar but I eventually got a handle on that. Highly suggest.

Awesome!

This was the first Series of books I have listened to by this author. If you adore fantasy, good battling against evil, dragons and other mythical beasts then this is the series for you! It maybe classed as a YA but, if like me, your inner child cries out for a bedtime story then you will not be disappointed! True there is more romance in the 2nd and 3rd book of the series but the tale is woven deftly and the imagery beautiful. Will be listening to this series again and again.
Warning: If you get caught up in the story, you won't get much sleep until the last line of the 3rd book! Enjoy!

let Down

After going through the season . to reach the ending that left so many holes just felt like a huge disappointment.
I'd enjoyed the second book and was looking forward to the final instalment.

Confusing

Good enough to keep me listening through all the books but very confusing as it switched between the two narrators/times. A good part of the time I had no idea what was going on.
The male narrator was good but the female was very screechy.

I will listen to it again at some point, hopefully I will follow it better then.

Great but some things unanswered

The third and final instalment of The Bone Witch where the truth is finally revealed. I do think this trilogy could have been condensed into a duology. There was a lot of stuff in all three books that we could have done without. But overall, the story is good and I loved Tea and Kalen.
I do feel some things were left unanswered. The ending was rushed and that’s sad.
I also need to add a shout out to Emily Woo Zeller. Her narration is fantastic. To be able to identify a character purely by the voice she adopts for them, when there are so many, was amazing. All credit to her for that.

In short; a good fantasy story with great characters, interesting monsters, and unexpected twists, but some things were left unanswered and that’s frustrating. Unless I missed something…

great book and read well too. only thing that bothered me was after listening to the previous books, the pronunciation of some of the words changed.
the dresses that they wore went from hewer to hoor and kalens name was pronounced differently.
obviously they are small errors but it did take me away from the book.

Great ending

This was a great ending to this trilogy.
The only thing that annoyed was that Tia, the main character, burst into tears in every chapter. Other than that it was a wonderful female driven story with a huge shock that I didn't see coming.
if you're into fantasy books with a strong group of female characters then try this trilogy

look this is a fabulous trilogy, but not for audio

This trilogy becomes quite confusing on Audible, I do believe this is one of those series that you need to read to thoroughly enjoy. one tip, the female narrator is the past, the male narrator present. I didn't figure that out until book 2. It's a fabulous story and I'm going to listen again as I now totally understand it (in a way I couldn't until the end) there is so much I didn't understand and want to listen for all the bits I didn't pick up.
