Publisher's Summary

Nola Trenholm is hopeful for a fresh start in the Big Easy but must deal with ghosts from her past—as well as new ones—in this first book in a spin-off series of Karen White's New York Times best-selling Tradd Street novels.

After a difficult detour on her road to adulthood, Nola Trenholm is looking to begin anew in New Orleans, and what better way to start her future than with her first house? But the historic fixer-upper she buys comes with even more work than she anticipated when the house’s previous occupants don’t seem to be ready to depart.

Although she can’t communicate with ghosts like her stepmother can, luckily Nola knows someone in New Orleans who is able to—even if he’s the last person on earth she wants anything to do with ever again. Beau Ryan comes with his own dark past—a past that involves the disappearance of his sister and parents during Hurricane Katrina—and he’s connected to the unsolved murder of a woman who once lived in the old Creole cottage Nola is determined to make her own...whether the resident restless spirits agree or not.

“White has added another page-turner to her repertoire of haunted houses and ghosts who won't stay put."—Northwest Indiana Times

"A complex mystery that’s appropriately goosebumpy. Not just fans of the Tradd Street series, of which this is a spin-off, will look forward to seeing more of Nola."—Publishers Weekly

Solid Mystery

Great mystery and start to a new series. That was fun.

“Life wasn’t supposed to be easy; challenges just made it more interesting, most of the time, mostly.”

“It’s what my Grandmama calls a “life skill” something you will always use and appreciate, like potty-training and playing tennis.” Haha

And so it continues...

Karen White did a wonderful job continuing the Trenholm family saga. I hope that it will not be a repeat of the love triangle with her parents and Mark though. I'm very much looking forward to the next ghost fighting adventure.
I am a New Orleans native, the narration was just ok, she did give a good voice to NOLA but completely missed the elegance of Melanie and the pronunciation of their last name. I was glad that she managed to do a good job with the local characters dialect and properly pronounced the names of restaurants, stores, cities and streets.

Made me wanna scream!

The story was great, with the right amount of suspense. But for the love of God, Can Nola and Beau get I together. Their relationship frustrated me to no end only to be left high and dry. Also another pet peeve of mine is a time line that doesn't add up. Beau has a Harley the same year as his mom's birth 1977, yet his sister was taken around 1985. That math doesn't jive.

Big pronunciation problems.

I have listened to the entire Tradd Street series. The last name of the main character is mispronounced by this narrator, as are many of the New Orleans names in this story. I am from the Crescent City so I am familiar with the correct syllable to receive the accent. This narrator has the syllables reversed. I am very disappointed. I expected much more attention to detail. The story, however, is very entertaining.

Love Karen White and the stories of Melony.

This is a sequel to the series about Melonie and her haunted houses which I love. I enjoyed the writing style and plot of this story. Still struggling to believe the character Bo he just seems so flat and non dimensional. Still think you will love all the neat stories in the story and characters. Recommended!

Good Story

I enjoyed the story and look forward to the sequel. I do wish , however, that there was less
Detail and discussion about foods . It is somewhat annoying and does nothing to deepen the story or make the characters more
Real .
