Story
I don’t believe in objectifying men. I don’t catcall men. I don’t ogle the bodies of men. I don’t view men as objects of my affection rather than complex people with feelings, wants, and needs of their own. I don’t treat men the way society often treats women. I treat men the way I want to be treated as a woman - with respect! So, when Carlos ran into me while I was reviewing my interview questions in the park, it surprised me to see my photography classmate out of class. I was also surprised to see as much of him as I did.

Story
True never guessed that life would be this hard. Being only 25 years old, she should have been being wild, reckless, and having fun, not fighting the hardest battle of her life, alongside a husband who no longer loved her. After their divorce, True wanted to be free and enjoy every day. Falling in love was not in the plan. She most definitely hadn't foreseen falling in love with an arrogant, womanizing hustler like Coop. Yet, she did. However, as soon as True tells him all her truth, he'll revert back to that unbearable goon that wreaked havoc on the streets of Chicago.

This book would have been better if not for the homophobia
I really wanted to get into this book, but the narration was bad enough. Then half-way through the story we have to hear a character using homophobic slurs just because she was being cheated on. Sorry to give this spoiler; however, being the issue with being cheated on by a partner who has sex with someone of the same gender is the CHEATING, NOT THE GENDER. Please do better.

I just can’t
The narrator was a bit much however she’s one of my favorites. Did the characters have to be so stupid Anna was driving me crazy. She let her gay husband choke her 3 times and take her kids gloves come off. Your sexual preference is ur business however use what ever U have to, to get my kids out of harms way, I mean come on. They were all too extra... Anna Black is usually pretty good but she dropped the ball on this one!

Gay Bashing
Enjoyed the overall story line. Not a fan of the negative connotation of homosexuality. While the character Jeremiah was an evil and nasty man, however I felt like the character gay bashed, which makes it harder struggle for young gay Christians to be honest and open.

Frustrating and homophobic
There are three main characters who are kinda sorta friends with slightly intersecting storylines.
Josephina- her story was the least interesting to me. Her story was both real and unauthentic at the same time. And, the narrator did an awful job at her Latina accent.
Andrea - I spent more time being annoyed with her story than anyone else’s. She and her storyline made no sense. She’s in a loveless marriage with a controlling Hollier-Than-Thou minister of a mega church. **Spoiler** Andrea gets her hands on a video of her husband having sex with a man. She uses every gay slur she can. She refers to him as being unhealthy, ungodly, and other things. As much as I didn’t like her husband Jeremiah, the story conflates his homosexuality with the fact that he is abusive. The author apparently believes that if you’re gay, you’re also horrible and sadistic. Franklins homosexuality has nothing to do with the fact that he’s a horrible person. Apparently you go to Hell if you’re gay, not because you’re a cheater, adulterer, abusive and awful. I’m neither a bible thumper nor gay rights advocate, but the book offends me as a human being. And, her story was also ridiculous because she loses her kids when she could’ve just used the video proving her husbands adultery as cause. Made NO sense.
Side Note: the teen daughter, Kelly, crying on Andrea’s shoulder that she, “didn’t want a gay father,” while Andrea agreed was just offensive.
Samantha - though her story was my favorite of the three, it was still pretty ridiculous. She’s living with herpes and yet never did any research on the virus. I did like her love story, but not enough to have trudged this book.
I DO NOT Recommend this book.

A good book to pass time by while you wait for your other book series
The speed of this audio was gentle and mature the characters dealt with experiences I can relate too...I enjoyed listening. Truthfully at the end I did fast forward some parts especially Jo parts because it was predictable but overall 3 1/2 stars.
