NOT A SERIES

Good book, I was waiting for book 2, and asked about it on Diane Chamberlain Facebook page. This is not a series, there is NO book 2. I have contacted Audible, and so have Diane Chamberlain's people. Audible gave me a publishers phone number to report it, I did and passed the number to Diane Chamberlains page. It seems AUDIBLE OR PUBLISHERS WONT FIX IT. Just wanted to pass that along to anyone else waiting for next book.

Not My Cup of Tea

This audio had an excellent narrator and that made it possible to keep listening. I am not one that is good at guessing plots but this book was so predictable that it was ridiculous. I feel like this author is one step above Danielle Steele. If you want an easy listening experience that is really mindless you might enjoy this, but otherwise save your credits for something that is written better and has a bit more substance

Predictable & Relentlessly One Dimensional

I found this whole story implausible in the extreme. Even the smallest detail becomes ridiculous if you think about it for more than a minute. Nothing is believable, based in the real world or makes any sense at all. Zero thriller in this "chick-lit" snoozer. What a total waste of time.

Great story, kept me reading until late at night

The Silent Sister contains much of Diane Chamberlain's usual formatting in writing a work of fiction. We have a confused woman who is trying to make sense of her family, and a ton of secrets behind the scenes that are slowly seeking their way to the top.

Riley is a high school counselor. Her father is in ill health, and when he dies she discovers that long ago, she had a sister. Her brother is an ex veteran and isn't really interested in talking about the sister, who apparently committed suicide. However, as Riley digs deeper, she finds that her sister Jade's death was a big lie. Why would her family go to all of the trouble to fake her death and move her? There is an excellent reason why.

The Silent Sister moves quickly and is packed full of juicy twists and turns. The main character is likable and the story on the whole is very well done. The narration was impeccable and this is an overall good audiobook which I enjoyed tremendously.

Solid 4/5 stars

I can't think of anything more predictable...

The narration for this audio book is great. Thank heavens for that, because the writing is terrible. If you are anything above a 5th grade reading and comprehension level, you'll see every single "plot twist" coming from a mile away. Seriously, reading this book so frustrating because the characters took what seemed like ages to piece together very simple facts to reveal what was happening.

Chic-Lit Author Breaks Out And Delivers

Chamberlain has brought a strong, thinking, female role to life in this novel, and has done so without over-dramatization. The writing is fluid and the story line is well thought out, resulting in a solid mystery novel that keeps the reader's attention without effort. Although I didn't figure out the ending, it did lack something as compared to the rest of the novel. Narrator selection was right for this novel, and was character-consistent. Very glad I gave Diane Chamberlain another shot.

I wanted to listen non-stop!

Where does The Silent Sister rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very near the very top. I was certainly not disappointed that I picked this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silent Sister?

Oh dear, there were just so many that it's too hard to pick just one.

Which character – as performed by Susan Bennett – was your favorite?

I loved Riley although I thought all of the characters were done very well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many, many, many moments. There were happy moments, sad moments, heart wrenching moments and every other emotion I can think of.

Any additional comments?

Since I have been with Audible for 10 or more years, on and off, I have purchased a lot of books. I am not sure if I've read any written by Diane Chamberlain or narrated by Susan Bennett but I do know they are now on my favorites list. This book title says "Book 1" and I can hardly wait to see what book 2 has in store.

Predictable, but a terrific story!

It may be that I read many, many, many mysteries, so I really could predict the direction of this story. That being said, the author crafted a well written, character driven story. I'm happy this is "Book 1" of a Riley MacPherson series - because I really like Riley. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
