Publisher's Summary

I am a living ghost, a wanderer in search of my purpose and place.

I'm a cemetery restorer by trade, but my calling has evolved from that of ghost seer to death walker to detective of lost souls. I solve the riddles of the dead so the dead will leave me alone.

I've come to Seven Gates Cemetery nursing a broken heart, but peace is hard to come by, for the ghosts here and for me. When the body of a young woman is discovered in a caged grave, I know that I've been summoned for a reason. Only I can unmask her killer. I want to trust the detective assigned to the case, for he is a ghost seer like me. But how can I put my faith in anyone when supernatural forces are manipulating my every thought? When reality is ever-changing? And when the one person I thought I could trust above all others has turned into a diabolical stranger?

Up next, Devlin's return...

This listen was similar to past stories, getting a little monotonous ... but Devlin returns in the next story and this is what I have been waiting for. I like this character and her stories just getting a bit too routine. Hvam is perfect for the Charleston atmosphere.

I find Amelia to be a bit too.....

she's far too naive and skittish considering how long she's been seeing ghosts and such. just my opinion... I just find her overly annoying at least 5-10 times each book. if it were me, I'd be jumping in not running from it all and if I were told I was "that" powerful then I'd be figuring out how to maximize it instead of ignoring and fearing it. she just comes across as a major scaredy cat. she's terrified of everything and that gets old quick. decent author and the narrator is great.

The Sinner
Graveyard Queen Series, Book 5

Wow, this book has been the creepiest book yet! It gets a bit dark, twisted, and nail-biting! Tons of suspense! Amelia is doing an assignment and finds where people were murdered and buried alive! This is the cheery part of the story! From there it is gets so crazy but good and intense! This is the most intense one yet. I don't want to say to much and give anything away! Just listen to it!
The narration is excellent! She makes it even more intense with her performance!

Much better than the last two

This one took on a very dark sinister story. The two before this one fell abit flat but, this one definitely made up for it!! Finished in one day! On to the next one!! As always Ms. Hvam narration was superb!!

Good Book

The narrator did a great job. I do enjoy this series and every book seems to provide answers to questions but they also bring up more questions.

book 5 and it keeps getting better and stranger

Amanda Steven's has become one of my favorite authors with this awesome series. I love ghost books but this has so much more of the supernatural involved. This is the 5th book in the Graveyard Queen Series. Amanda Gray is the Graveyard Queen, a nickname she earned by restoring old cemeteries. Amanda has Gifts too, she can see ghosts, as this series moves forward she is learning she has other gifts as well, like being able to see instances in peoples pasts. She is also still hurting from the ending of her relationship with John Devlin.

In this book she is restoring the old Seven Gates Cemetery when she comes across hands sticking out of a grave with a cage over it. The hands are not skeletal but fresh dead. This starts her adventure through the book. Yet again she finds a guy to have a crush on, only to find out he is not what he seems.

This is the most intense book yet. I am diving into book 6 next, kind of sad though that it is the last book available. I'll either know how the series ends or will be pouting until the next book is out and ready.

Modern Gothic done right.

The beginning of this story drew me in instantly. No warm ups here.

Amelia Gray sees ghosts - and much more. As she embraces the gift inherited from her families, the scope of what she can do broadens. It scared off Devlin. Or did it? More to come on that front I'm sure. Amelia is restoring Seven Gates cemetery when she finds a body. More like a set of hands connected to a body and once again she is drawn into misdeeds of the past colliding with the present.

Darius Goodwine returns, asking Amelia for her help in protecting his daughter. Amelia owes Darius a favor so refusing the man she believes is more witch doctor than shaman isn't an option. As Amelia is drawn into yet another murder investigation, it is a new detective who catches her eye, but can she trust him? Darius told her to trust no one and she knows she can't trust him.

There's a couple of twists in here I didn't see coming. Can't wait to dive into the next book.

surprising but not as enthralling.

I did not see the ending coming I'll admit but the rest of the storyline left much to the imagination unlike the other stories.
