Why we loved The Expanse and why it will be missed

For readers and fans of the series, both in print and on the screen, this story is like catching up with an old friend from high-school. You exchange pleasantries in a moment where your paths bump into each other, amused to see them; you think about those years behind you ans listen as you hear about where things are for them and where they're going. They're just here visiting. The last of their elders passed away and they've come to pay their respects and then will be headed back to wherever distant place it was they flew in from.

Only this is a bit different. When you're done and your paths part, you turn around. You realize you caught a glimpse of something they said that makes you want to know more - to BE there when they do that thing they were talking about. The conversation was too brief.

But you turn and they're gone. And maybe, too, is any chance that you'll get to see whatever it was that you were hoping for.

A good novella...

I think I read this out of order...IF this is the last novella, it's poignant.

wish it was longer

I would really love to hear this story continue.
I just can't get enough of The Expanse!
There is a lot of room to fill the 1000 year gap.

I like that this itch was scratched

Good to know what happened to Phillip as well as have a slight idea of how colonies might fare.

Loved it

What a treat for those of us who miss the expanse and Jefferson Mays!! They did a great job with this. You need to have listened to or read all of the expanse novels. Not necessary to read all the Novellas.

Brilliant

This is a brilliant short story that transcends escapist sci-fi adventure and says something interesting and profound about human nature. A fitting closing chapter to a great series—but I still hope there’s more to come.

Very nice closing novella for The Expanse series.

I really like this narrator. He did the whole series, which was great for the consistency, but also because he is an excellent narrator.
