After the loss of his parents, young Jack Thatch first met Stella as a child - this cryptic little girl of eight with dark hair and darker eyes, sitting alone on a bench in the cemetery clutching her favorite book. The body of a man found in an alley, every inch of his flesh horribly burned, yet his clothing completely untouched. For Detective Faustino Brier, this wasn't the first, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. Isolated and locked away from the world in a shadowy lab, a little boy known only as Subject "D" waits, grows, learns. He's permitted to speak to no one.

Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings who share a terrifying past. Both adopted, and now grown — Michael is a long-haul truck driver, Megan a college student majoring in psychology — they trust each other before anyone else. They've had to. Their parents are public intellectuals, an Ivy League clinical psychologist and a renowned psychiatrist, and they brought up their adopted children in a rarefied, experimental environment. It sheltered them from the world's harsh realities, but it also forced secrets upon them, secrets they keep at all costs.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
In the riveting conclusion of the 4MK trilogy, Barker takes the thriller to an entirely new level. Don't miss a single word of the series James Patterson called "ingenious."
Hear No Evil
For Detective Sam Porter, the words "Father, forgive me" conjure memories long forgotten; a past intentionally buried. For Anson Bishop, these three words connect a childhood to the present as he unleashes a truth concealed for decades.
See No Evil
Found written on cardboard near each body, these words link multiple victims to a single killer - discovered within minutes of each other in both Chicago and South Carolina - clearly connected yet separated by impossible miles.
Speak No Evil
Chicago Metro and the FBI find themselves caught in chaos - a hospital on lockdown, a rogue officer, and corruption at the highest levels. When Anson Bishop, the prime suspect in the notorious 4MK serial murders turns himself in, he reveals a story completely unexpected, one that not only upends the current investigation, but one that will change the lives of all involved.
Do No Evil
With unrelenting tension and pulse-pounding suspense, the past unravels at breakneck speed as the truth behind the Four Monkey Killer's motive is finally revealed in this masterfully crafted finale.

Really!
I am definitely in the minority and I love a good thriller/mystery but come on! I should've stopped at book 1. The final book might as well been categorized as a fantasy. Just because you can come up with the most convoluted approach to a revenge plot DOES NOT mean you should. The author took the power of suggestion to a whole new meaning and actually insults the reader's intelligence. This was the absolute weakest task force on the face of the EARTH, guess while researching the author failed to think through a true manhunt of this level or took just a little time to review outbreak procedures. Who would've ever thought that "trust, but verify" ever existed after reading this book. The author's notes cannot explain this catastrophe away. Of course nature and nuture help to shape someone's actions and character but so does common sense, which was lacked by multiple characters. The extraneous number of twists only served to drive up the page count. If you're someone like me who has to finish what they start...check this book out from the library, read chapters 1-50, 108-116 and finally 129-136...you're welcome!

End of the 4MK trilogy
WOW! That was intense! I'm starting this review by stating the fact that my rating of 3 stars in much lower than the average rating will be. I loved The Fourth Monkey and liked The Fifth to Die a lot. THE SIXTH WICKED CHILD is a necessary completion of the trilogy but it is disjointed and not as well written as the first two novels. The chapters are too short making keeping up with the plot too difficult. The potential listener should be aware that the three novels in 4MK series are not standalone. They must be listened to in order.

I’ll second Wayne’s review!
I agree with the review left by Wayne (Matthews, NC). I’ve never met or spoken to him, I’m just a follower of his and enjoy reading his reviews, they have pointed me to more than one good series.
Anyway, yes this has short choppy chapters that jump between characters and time frame. I’m almost sorry I didn’t relisten to the previous book before listening to this one. It’s been a while since the second book was released and in the beginning of this book I felt a little lost at times. Definitely listen in order.
Narrators worked very well together. Without them I probably wouldn’t have finished

This Series is A Knockout
I have no idea where to begin. I waited two years for this series to close and now that it has, I am so sad about that. Everything about these three books are amazing. JD was so impressive in his writing style. The story left me breathless at the end. I hung on every word of all three books. I was devastated about how book 2 ended, but the end was worth the wait. Buy this series, sit back, and enjoy the ride!!

Got very confusing near the end, but
Worth the credit and worth the listen. I had read the previous 2 books in the series and was glad to hear the conclusion. Often there is no conclusion...and that is troubling. Many, many hours later; I'm glad I read the books and could not have guessed the outcome.

JD BARKER continues hot offer his finest
The 3rd in the series . . . . readers should read the series in order and without to big of a time gap between offerings to enjoy the unfolding of Barkers offering. Unfortunately readers had to wait tooooo long for the third offering in this series.
Barker takes the reader into the mind of his characters. I was fascinated and surprised by my own feelings for the characters some of whom were relatable, hideous, unforgettable and even seriously psychopathic.
With so many psychological thrillers to choose on Audible from I can highly recommend this series to listeners.
