Publisher's Summary

In the third in the epic fantasy series, War of the Archons, the war of the gods continues to threaten all existence.

As its neighbors muster for war, the city-state of Kantor clings desperately to neutrality. Suraan, the queen regent, is beset on all sides, her son Rahuul still too young to take the throne. As his elder sister and guardian, Adaali’s only purpose is to protect Rahuul from would-be usurpers. But dark forces are at play from within and without, and she must seek help from the most unlikely of places - or be consumed by the war of the gods that threatens to destroy the very fabric of her world.

In love~

I want to cry, I loved the story and every character with all my heart. R.S. Ford is absolutely amazing at storytelling and Derek Perkins reading was absolutely perfect. I could not have asked for more in a fantastical setting and I would highly recommend it to anyone loving the genre. I look forward to listening to Ford's other series.

Great Finale

It wasn't my favorite of the series, and there were moments where I wanted to stop and ask Mr. Ford why he would do this, or why he'd miss a perfect opportunity to add that. What the story lacked in missed opportunities, it carried over in spades in its delivery of action conflict and epic ending.

Derek Perkins has great potential as a narrator, but I would recommend that he really work to fasten a voice to a character and stick to it. Many of his character voices would change between books or even chapters, and that would get quite frustrating to keep up with.

That being said, he is wickedly deft at delivering tone and accent variations so eloquently. Hat's off to that!

not nearly as good as the first book

the first book in the series was outstanding, the second was great too. This one had too many plot holes, inconsistencies, and just seemed much less thought out. still not bad though

Wonderful series, I’m sad it’s over. Has a place in my Heart.

This series was so jam packed with adventure with highs and lows. So many characters that you really get to know and love, sometimes hate. This book isn’t for the weak hearted for sure. I’m proud to say this series had nothing inappropriate in the sex realm. This author is truly amazing, I will be looking at other works by him for sure. The narrator was superb! This last book left me with a good smile in my heart and mind. I can’t ask for anything else. Thank you R.S Ford. Well done.

Wonderful ending!

I worried up to the last minutes that the ending wouldn't satisfy. I'm happy that it did. I'm not longing for more, just completly satisfied with a real ending.

Abercrombiesqe in ambition

Derek Perkins is a masterful narrator bringing to life epic tale. He really helped raise the level of the storytelling. I hope Ford has further to develop as a writer because I like what I've heard so far.

However it can be a little repetitive and clumsy at times. It's tempting to make things crystal clear to the audience but trust the readers to follow a story ark. I really enjoyed the trilogy but thought this novel was the weakest of the lot

5 Stars Must Listen

This is a great series from the first book (A Demon in Silver ) the second (Hangman's Gate ) & this tital The Spear Of Malice , This is the first time I have had the pleasure of books from R. S. Ford & I can now say I am a fan these are definitely aldult fantasy & not for the easily offended by bad language or brutality , all these books are worth your credits & depending on the tier you have on your subscription you can get the first two books for free , I am now off to see what else R. S. Ford has for me to listen to on Audible, oah & did I mention that the fantastic Derek Perkins narrates all these books & 5 stars for his performance, so go ahead listen or read you will not be disappointed.

Simply brilantly briliant.

This has some fould language but used briantly to give individual character to charactors. The reading is excellent and i laughed out loud often with the dark moments accompanied by expletives as cgaractors exspressed themselves. some good twists, turns and unexpected charactor deaths and...well enough said. Just read the bloody thing.

Classic fantasy

A very pleasant trilogy! Magic, betrayal, intrigue, tension, what more could you want?
Nothing too novel or out there but sometimes there doesn't need to be.
A good story that's well worth picking up. Decent characters and plots and mechanics. Dark tones without being depressing. A solid read, overall.

War of the Archons 1,2 & 3

Wonderful series that I couldn’t put down. Narration is excellent too. Wholly recommend all 3 books whilst I’m hoping for more. If you like David Gemmell and others like him, you will assuredly enjoy these books. Well told plot and character development. Give RS Ford a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Came together well

As in the previous book, got a bit confusing trying to keep track of the characters. But pretty good, satisfying ending.
