An international best seller!

A Library Reads pick and Indie Next Pick!

A trio of second-born daughters sets out on a whirlwind journey through the lush Italian countryside to break the family curse that says they’ll never find love, by New York Times best seller Lori Nelson Spielman, author of The Life List.

Since the day Filomena Fontana cast a curse upon her sister more than 200 years ago, not one second-born Fontana daughter has found lasting love. Some, like second-born Emilia, the happily single baker at her grandfather’s Brooklyn deli, claim it’s an odd coincidence. Others, like her sexy, desperate-for-love cousin Lucy, insist it’s a true hex. But both are bewildered when their great-aunt calls with an astounding proposition: If they accompany her to her homeland of Italy, Aunt Poppy vows she’ll meet the love of her life on the steps of the Ravello Cathedral on her 80th birthday and break the Fontana Second-Daughter Curse once and for all.

Against the backdrop of wandering Venetian canals, rolling Tuscan fields, and enchanting Amalfi Coast villages, romance blooms, destinies are found, and family secrets are unearthed - secrets that could threaten the family far more than a centuries-old curse.

You Will Not Be Disappointed

I thought this would be a fun a d fluffy read. It was so much more. I found myself laughing out loud, disgusted and cheering on a few of the characters. I also found myself shedding a few tears. Author did a great job of intertwining the past with the present. I won’t give it away but there was a plot twist I didn’t see coming. First time reading this author and throughly enjoyed her writing style.

What a Wonderful Story

While we could quickly figure out part of the plot, we certainly could not have predicted the way it came to be. Lots of twists and turns and they all tie up nicely in the end. Terrific performance with all the Italian and German nuances. Thanks for the entertainment.

Loved it! Lstened to this book on audible twice

I loved the storyline and the two readers were great. Especially loved the voice for Paolina, and the seamless transitions. I laughed and teared up throughout the chapters. When it ended, I listened again to hear it from a different perspective and enjoyed it even more.

Amazing

Absolutely amazing. Immediately added to my list of favorites. The author made you feel like you were in Italy alongside the characters. Being in a book club has made me hyper critical of books, and I can think of nothing negative to say about this one. I even bought it in paperback after listening to it to add to my collection.

Great narrators

Great narrators - Italian accents were very authentic. The grudges reminded me of my own Italian family.
