Story
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Story
Creative work doesn't come with a guarantee. But there is a pattern to who succeeds and who doesn't. And engaging in the consistent practice of its pursuit is the best way forward. Based on the breakthrough Akimbo workshop pioneered by legendary author Seth Godin, The Practice will help you get unstuck and find the courage to make and share creative work. Godin insists that writer's block is a myth, that consistency is far more important than authenticity, and that experiencing the imposter syndrome is a sign that you're a well-adjusted human.

All creatives are cursed. It's the subtle kind of curse. It's the kind you might not notice until you're 46 years old at a desk job wondering why you let the best years of your life slip away. It's the kind that keeps you paralyzed at 18 when you know you have something special to offer the world but everyone says you are too young.

The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

A boring non focus ramble
Im sure the author really wanted to make this book special but I feel like there wasn't enough valuable information in here that warrants me to buy this book. He was rambling for almost five hours and I only finished it because I dont like starting books without finishing them.
You could have summarize the whole buy with one sentence: "There are no original idea and most people draw inspiration from others".
The rest of the book was rambling, feel-good stuff that didn't connect in any way to the topic of the book.
Getting a refund.

Enlightening
I watched relatives sit and produce creative items, from quilts and crocheted or knitted items to sketches and painting that were lifelike and I read there prose and poems. Yet, I fumbled round trying to be creative too.
'Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile' was the best commits that I would get ... and I remember the mallard duck I painted INE school which the teacher asked if she could include in her "student inspiration file" and a scuppered tiger and a sketched elephant that joined other teachers files ... but these were rarities and weren't appreciated as being much within my family.
It has never occurred to me that it was okay to steal from others. Of course, my artist training was of the obligation category ...not enough money for Extras ... especially ones considered to not help to pay the bills. I do have some files of 'inspiration' images but until now I felt guilty for having them.
Now, with the reveal that it is not unacceptable to study and learn another's style without forgeging their work but pursuing how they can help me develop my own style; I look forward to exploring all these talent people's "advice" towards my developing a wider range of creativity ... good, bad and potential ... with enjoyment.

Wanted to like it, but didn't.
As an artist myself, I felt this title was overall pretty underwhelming. It felt packed with opinionated "advice", while not really bringing anything new to the table. If you're completely new to the self help scene, and are only just starting out with creative pursuits, there might be a few points here worth your time. Otherwise, I'd say don't bother.

Loved every moment!
This will be one of the books I come back to often! I have already bought a hard copy for my husband as well! Thank you Austin Kleon for sharing your thefts! Very inspiring work!

It's cute
I think these books are overrated and basic but more so than the two earlier books I think this one has more value. It would be a good gift to a person leaving school or a job or starting a new chapter, especially for creatives.

Lots to think about
I read some other reviews saying "nothing new, heard it before etc" and wondered if I'd feel the same.
I don't.
Some of the stuff I here is obvious and some genuinely is stuff I've already heard. But this context and unexpected perspectives have me really thinking about life.
I really enjoyed this and will definitely listen again, probably more than once so I can take notes. Very well done 👏
