“Lookit you. What's your problem?”

The stranger glanced at Ike, and he immediately knew that he and his boys were simply trouble, looking for more trouble. It was best not to add coal to the fire, and the stranger knew it. He simply looked away and continued drinking his whiskey. Perhaps if he ignored them, they would just leave it at that. Unfortunately, it was simply not to be.

“You look at me when I'm talking to you! Don't you know who I am? I'm Ike Ferguson, and I've killed men a lot bigger than you!”

Ike got uncomfortably close to the stranger. It was clearly a tense situation that threatened to boil over, but the stranger did not move. He seemed unaffected and unconcerned, even if a man as threatening as Ike Ferguson was right in his face.

Enjoyable Western

The Stranger by John J. Law is a nice short listen. Great characters that are well developed with a smooth flowing story line with themes of greed, disloyalty and murder. Brooks Corley does a fine job narrating. Recommended

A great Western book.

I listened to this book because I was looking for something different to read and I was not disappointed. There are not many Western genre books out there and this one was great. It had a very good storyline, plot and the characters very interesting. I liked the authentic narrations for this genre too.
Highly recommend it.

A fun listen

I first want to mention how great the narrator is. He elevates the material, from a simple western to a gripping drama. This was tense and intense, and just a great way to spend time. Recommend!

The Wild West The wild west!

When a man and his three friends go to Dick for gold. Never once did he think once he found it his good friends would kill him. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. Not only did they steal his goal, but Israel the leader went back and married his widow Becky. He also started a new town with Danny one of the friends owning the Mercantile in their last friend being squandered his money and became an outlaw. He tried to go and hide out in Israel’s town, but Israel wasn’t having that and ran Van out of town and in return he threaten to kill everyone andand burn the town down. This caused Israel to hire gunslingers to guard the town, but unfortunately the ones he hired were more apt to starting trouble and getting drunk. Then one day a stranger ride into town and unfortunately the gunslinger took all three of them out and told Israel he will guard the town and Took him up on his offer in Israel‘s life will never be the same again. This book was really good and although simplistically told I still enjoyed it. If you love westerns and want a quick read this is a good one to listen to. The narrator was so awesome and I can’t wait to listen to more audiobooks especially western done by him. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation errors, as I am blind and find them impossible to fix when using screen reader. All opinions are my own though.

A great Western experience - Highly recommended

If you like Westerns, you will enjoy this one. I particularly enjoyed the narrator's gritty, true Western, voice which sounded so well while listening ti the story. In between the moments of drama, the story also shares some more softer interludes that are well scripted by the author. Highly recommended.
