Story
A gentle reminder for the days you feel light in this world, and for the days in which the sun rises a little slower. A gentle reminder for when your heart is full of hope and for when you are learning how to heal it. A gentle reminder for when you finally begin to trust in the goodness and for when you need the kind of words that hug your broken pieces back together. A gentle reminder for when growth hangs heavy in the air, for when you need to tuck your strength into your bones just to make it to tomorrow.

Story
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck and Get Your Sh*t Together comes more straight talk about how to stand up for who you are and what you really want, need, and deserve - showing when it's okay to be selfish, why it's pointless to be perfect, and how to be "difficult". Being yourself should be easy, yet too many of us struggle to live on other people's terms instead of our own. Rather than feeling large and in charge, we feel little and belittled.

I know you don’t want to talk sometimes. Sometimes because it hurts and sometimes because you’re just not supposed to talk about what you want to talk about. Sometimes it can be hard to say, “this is beautiful”, when no one else can see what you see. Or, “Here, this is where the pain is.” But some part of you knows, the truth about the words you cannot say is that they only hurt until you say them.

Disappointing
Liked the general wisdom.
Disliked repetition, same phraseology, as well as concepts, over and over ad nauseam. Wisdom now a days seems dished out like ice cream, so much so that it can be dismissive as well as misleading of the time and work of true growth. Were wisdom concepts as easy as writing about them, we would meet a lot of wise, mentally healthy, robust and flourishing people every day.
Working with people who have experienced crises, I know it can take decades to grow enough to be motivated more by love than fear, or to flourish post traumatically.
Too superficial a treatment of the human condition for me.

Great for going through hard times
The listen was very good. she's trying to comfort and encourage after a hard breakup but can help after losing a loved one as well. Rachel Jacobs read slowly but I think she did so intentionally to help emphasize the material, and in that she did a very good job. unfortunately if you try to speed up just a bit it gets very choppy. very recommended though esp if trying to cope with difficult times.

Personally I Found it Underwhelming
I don't want to deter others from listening to this title because there are parts of it that are beautifully written. Personally, I didn't find the book to be very helpful or insightful. This insight is based solely on my own personal experiences and frame of mind. I didn't get much out of this title and I didn't particularly enjoy the dulcet tones of the narrator. But I can see the value this book has for helping people. I hope that if you're reading this review that you will be one of the people who resonate with this book. whose soul is spoken to and touched deeply by the authors message.
