Publisher's Summary

One woman discovers the beauty in chaos in this poignant and heartwarming story about the threads that hold family together from number one New York Times best-selling author Susan Mallery.

With her divorce settlement about to run out and a mortgage she can’t afford, Robyn Caldwell needs a plan for her future. She nurtured her family and neglected herself. But how’s she supposed to think when her daughter has become the most demanding bride ever, her son won’t even consider college, her best friend is on the brink of marital disaster and her ex is making a monumentally bad decision that could bring everything crashing down on Robyn’s head? So when her great-aunt Lillian invites her to Santa Barbara for the summer, Robyn hops on the first plane.

But it’s hard to run away when you’re the heart of the family. One by one, everyone she left behind follows her across the country. Somehow, their baggage doesn’t feel as heavy in the sun-drenched, mishmash mansion. The more time Robyn spends with free-spirited Lillian, the more she sees the appeal in taking chances - on dreams, on love, on family. Life is meant to be lived on purpose. All she has to do is muster the courage to take a chance on herself.

Might be my last Susan Mallery

I usually enjoy Susan Mallery books. I usually give them 100+% for story, romance, characters. I loved the characters in this book. But it went way beyond romance, not just too much sex but too graphic, I’d rather imagine it than have step by step details - takes the fun out of it.

Good Story

Too much graphic sex. It seemed to be be just thrown in because it was expected. I don’t remember such graphic sex scenes in her other books. I loved the story.

Boring and juvenile

Story is boring and predictable. Narrator reads way too fast, very monotone and has a nasally voice.

Predictable

I didn’t mind listening to this book, but there are no surprises. Easy read a little tough to get through to the end.

Great Summer Read!

I loved this book and wish there was a sequel. Very well written, believable main characters. Heart warming growth of both Harlow & Robin. Highly recommend!

The narrator ruined this for me

I am a fan of this author but for the first time in using audible the narrower of this book ruined this for me. I could barely finish. I have gone so far as to look up her name, write it down and if I find she is narrating any other book it will be a hard pass. If I had not paid for the book I would have abandoned. Wow. I am not one to be critical and have never dissed someone this harshly but this was awful. It was like having it read to me by a child. No more for me, so disappointed. Susan Mallery please pay attention. If she is your go to for your audio I won’t be a listener.
