Publisher's Summary

One woman discovers the beauty in chaos in this poignant and heartwarming story about the threads that hold family together from number one New York Times best-selling author Susan Mallery.

With her divorce settlement about to run out and a mortgage she can’t afford, Robyn Caldwell needs a plan for her future. She nurtured her family and neglected herself. But how’s she supposed to think when her daughter has become the most demanding bride ever, her son won’t even consider college, her best friend is on the brink of marital disaster and her ex is making a monumentally bad decision that could bring everything crashing down on Robyn’s head? So when her great-aunt Lillian invites her to Santa Barbara for the summer, Robyn hops on the first plane.

But it’s hard to run away when you’re the heart of the family. One by one, everyone she left behind follows her across the country. Somehow, their baggage doesn’t feel as heavy in the sun-drenched, mishmash mansion. The more time Robyn spends with free-spirited Lillian, the more she sees the appeal in taking chances - on dreams, on love, on family. Life is meant to be lived on purpose. All she has to do is muster the courage to take a chance on herself.

Good Story

Too much graphic sex. It seemed to be be just thrown in because it was expected. I don’t remember such graphic sex scenes in her other books. I loved the story.

A perfect summer read

This book is a perfect summer beach read, or a perfect book to read in the winter when you dream of the upcoming summer. Susan Mallery has created a family that I wish I was a part of. Thank you, Susan, for showing is that it isn't too late to have a happy ever after!

Might be my last Susan Mallery

I usually enjoy Susan Mallery books. I usually give them 100+% for story, romance, characters. I loved the characters in this book. But it went way beyond romance, not just too much sex but too graphic, I’d rather imagine it than have step by step details - takes the fun out of it.

The narrator sounded like a robot.

I listen to a lot of Audible books, and this is the first time I almost sent a book back because the narration was so irritating. The over—pronunciation of consonants slowed the reading and I couldn’t put the speed to 1.1 as I prefer, since that sounded awful.

This ruined the book for me, but I did finish it.

Loved it.

A thoroughly wonderful listen. I enjoyed every moment of this book. A grown woman who has finally had enough of everyone in her life acting like spoiled petulant children does the unexpected. She packs up and goes to visit her beloved elderly, brilliant loving aunt. Basically she runs away from her adult children, ex-husband and best friends all of whom constantly expect her to fix everything for them and do their bidding. It’s a winding road to Robyn rediscovering herself, what she wants and taking control of her own destiny. Oh and finally for all those around her to grow up themselves, Truly loved this listen.

Narrator is awful

I had to stop listening after the most painful 35 minutes of this book. A robotic digital cell phone voice would be more enjoyable. The story was interesting but I couldn’t continue to listen, which was a first for me.
