Publisher's Summary

Coming home dredges up deeply buried secrets in The Survivors, a thrilling mystery by New York Times best-selling author Jane Harper.

Kieran Elliott's life changed forever on the day a reckless mistake led to devastating consequences.

The guilt that still haunts him resurfaces during a visit with his young family to the small coastal community he once called home.

Kieran's parents are struggling in a town where fortunes are forged by the sea. Between them all is his absent brother, Finn.

When a body is discovered on the beach, long-held secrets threaten to emerge. A sunken wreck, a missing girl, and questions that have never washed away....

Jane Harper Fan

Great author, great narrator, great story. I burned though the whole thing in less than a day! Such a consistently entertaining story from beginning to end. Jane Harper is a skilled storyteller and I enjoy her books very much!

Ps- I have literally listened to hundreds and hundreds of audio books and this is my first ever review... I loved it that much! That and my husband made me feel guilty because I’m an avid reader of other people’s reviews yet never leave my own!) ;)

worst narration ever

The barration is horrible. The narrator makes no differentiation amongst characters, which makes it difficult to follow the story. The story itself is boring and it is hard to care about any of the characters. I have enjoyed all of the author's previous books, but this one is truly a disappointment.

Not as good as previous novels

This book had confusing characters that I couldn’t keep straight and a never ending story that was far from enthralling. I stayed with it because I am a true Jane Harper fan. I was disappointed with the storyline and just wanted to get through it by the end. All of her previous novels are on my favorites list so if this is your first you need to try the others - especially the Dry.

Jane Harper did again

This author has become one of my favorites. And Stephen Shanahan narration is amazing...again. This book was just released yesterday and already, I can’t wait for the next one. I have listened to the previous 3 books twice, and I will be listening to this one again.

Dissapointed

I bought this as a pre-order - couldn't wait to finish it to move on to something else. The characters were not memorable and there wasn't enough fast paced suspense to compensate for it.

not her best...

it just dragged on. and on. and when the twist finally came I was more relieved it was finally over. I love her other books. this was a minimal effort in comparison.

Is it over??

Tedious. That’s all I can say. A murder mystery that drags on and on. Characters that don’t interest you. And narrators heavy Aussie accent. G’day you all.

Story and narrator both superlative

This is my third book by this author, and with the same narrator. They have all been spellbinding. Every word of the story and every inflection of the narrator are absolutely authentic. When I stop listening, I am surprised to find I’m not right there with them. It takes a few minutes to get back into my own life. I can’t help but wonder if the author was holding her breath while writing the climax - I was holding mine while listening! I wish I could give six stars!

Awesome

The story captured love, grief and teens growing up.
Friendship is key but proves that we really don't know what lives in another's heart.

Long but good

Great performance and good, atmospheric story. It just kind of went on a bit long tho I can’t thing of anything to cut. A good listen.
