Publisher's Summary

The invasion left him without hope. But no one was prepared for the war he would learn to wage.

Ben Hutchins buried his anger to survive. Stranded on a ravaged Earth after a devastating alien annihilation, the haunted young man has nothing except his late father’s cutting-edge exo-suit and a veteran soldier for company. But when he uncovers the truth about his armored prototype, he unwittingly paints a target on his back for those who seek humanity’s destruction.

Forced to flee the attacks, Ben can feel the rage and resentment building as he discovers he might be humanity’s only weapon against utter extinction. But with his abilities fueled by fury, saving the human race may mean becoming a monster.

Can Ben save his people without losing his soul? The Terran Menace is the action-packed first book in the Terran Menace military science fiction series. If you like jaw-dropping reveals, gripping action scenes, and learning the cost of war, then you’ll love J. R. Robertson’s military sci-fi epic.

Epic story arc

This book was amazing, the author transports you into an action packed world filed with lose and rebirth. I am eagerly awaiting the second book in the series. What a great job with the writing and narration.

Typical 16 yo story saves all of humanity . Only he can do it. Plot line on par with Johnny quest. Good book for a 14 year old

Very Good

Finally a story on par with the writing of the "Ember Wars". Good story, well laid out.

Surprisingly engaging

Honestly, it’s not that common that I find a random sci-fi book or author I’ve never heard of before that good. This, however… the characters are well-developed, the interaction between them is entertaining and believable, and the action is well-considered and communicated. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next book. Thank you, Mr. Robertson.

So close

The first 80% of this book is a breath of relatively fresh air among recent unbelievable and stale military sci-fi. The boy-prodigy who is mankind’s only hope trope is pretty heavy but I could ignore it for the potential I saw in the overall story after the main character was established.

The idea that human’s unique thinking and diverging path of technological advancement gives them niche but exploitable advantages against a much more advanced foe is believable and a solid base for many realistic and believable stories. It had me checking my credit count to see if I could buy and binge the new few books.

Unfortunately the author throws all this away in the last 20% where the story takes a sharp turn into goofy AI and unexplainable space magic that is prevalent in so much sci-fi today. How can anyone be invested in what is happening when the main character does something amazing and the only answer to “How?” is “I don’t know. That’s impossible!” over and over again.

Great Story. Great Performance.

This is a great Earth versus alien futuristic saga. I couldn't stop listening to it. The narrator is definitely one of the best.

Gripping, thrilling story with slowly revealing li

My first book by J R Robertson, I think he'll go on to become one of my favourite authors. The Terran Menace, is one of those gripping stories you can't put down and are desperate to find out what will happen next. Paul Heitsch does an amazing job on narration, the reason I picked up the book in the first place was because I knew he'd do a great job bringing it to life.

Looking forward to more Mr Robertson!

I am really looking forward to the next installment of this series. I strongly suspect that this series will be up there amongst the greats.
