Colin MacIntyre's life as a NASA astronaut might not have been exciting, but at least it was orderly. Unfortunately, he's been tapped for greater things, and he isn't too sure he likes it. First he was kidnapped by an ancient, self-aware starship masquerading as Earth's moon. Then he was drafted as its captain to suppress a 5,000-year-old mutiny. And then he had to mobilize the planet against the attack of an eons-old ancient menace dedicated to the eradication of all intelligent life in the galaxy! It's hard to blame him for feeling a little stressed....

Publisher's Summary
Earth is conquered. Sol is lost. One ship is tasked to free them. One Captain to save them all.
When an alien armada destroys the United Earth Space Force and takes control of the human homeworld, newly reinstated Captain Annette Bond must take her experimental hyperspace cruiser Tornado into exile as Terra's only interstellar privateer.
She has inferior technology, crude maps, and no concept of her enemy, but the seedy underbelly of galactic society welcomes her so long as she has prizes to sell and money to spend.
But when your only allies are pirates and slavers, things are never as they seem - and if you become all that you were sworn to destroy, what are you fighting for?

If you can stomach the agenda, great story
These books are interesting and the story is well put together. The science is a little on the "i have no idea what I'm talking about but this'll be cool" side of physics, but I don't really expect much effort from science fiction these days.
The one thing that keeps irritating me is that Glynn has such an obvious agenda. She doesn't know !$%^ about physics but writes a good narrative so that's fine. The problem is that she has 90% of her primary protagonists crammed into a 3% slice of the public social science demographic. Every chance she gets with any dialogue or character interaction outside of essential story arc events is crammed to the punctuation with libtard agenda BS.
I'm not religious, I'm not politically interested in anyone's agenda, and I get enough of that BS every time I have to pay attention to what is going on in the world. If you want to get philosophical I'm fine with that. Heinland, Hawking, Greene... hell virtually every author I can think of has made a dig or two at some ideology or agenda they didn't like or plugged one they did. Whatever, that's fine. But when you have virtually every character a member of a 1-3% minority and you go out of you way to slam some political agenda every other dialogue it gets old very quickly.
Every couple of books I have to read something else until I get my annoyance and nausea under control. I don't even disagree with any of it, it's just so obviously propagandized it pisses me off.

Nothing complex or intricate about this story. I got the impression the author has a thing for blondes and the narrator's attempts at accents is excruciating (in particular Bloody Ann's British Executive Officer ).

Annoying and predictable and endlessly repetitive
Oh, and comedy language, even when being run through a translator that has absolutely no need to reproduce the original sounds. Earlier on she seemed to be trying harder and I wish there was a way to edit all the clicks out, I didn't like them on vinyl records and I don't see why I'd want to hear them in an audio book. Khoisan languages in Africa use tongue clicks, it's not that unheard of. Just a novelty.
The main problems are with the writing style. Repeating that a species are squid like aliens, or tentacled aliens, two or three times is OK. Getting to the end of the book and still referring to them this way is atrocious. Same with the other species, how many times do I need to hear that these particular people are centaur like but with more teeth? And this species is blue furred. Yes, you have said that twenty times already. Oh, tentacled aliens? Perhaps you thought I had forgotten and needed to be reminded that they aren't actually earth born squids.
Hillary Huber's flat delivery didn't help, smooth and flat. No failures to pronounce relatively common words. No hesitation, easy to understand, a much better reader than me. But, oh my sweet lord, that attempt at an English accent! That was supposed to be English? Did you run that by any actual British people before you decided to use that? Have you ever been to Britain or talked to British people? That's the sort of joke accent that Americans who have never really interacted with Brits use. Or Americans trying to start a fight in a British pub. Please, don't try that on a Brit face to face, unless it's a joke?
The story... magical technology dreamed up just in time and immediately developed to a stage where it is competitive with the rest of the galaxy. Look at early gas engines and current car engines and ask yourself how likely that is. If you have an inertialess drive you can't then use the intertia as a weapon. Inertia doesn't really exist, it's a way of explaining force and acceleration to non-technical people. You can quantify the moment of inertia of an object, but that doesn't mean you have measured its inertia. So having decided you can impart instant acceleration with almost no force you can't ten use the force of deceleration, and the energy liberated thereby as a weapon. Fire an inertialess weapon at a glass window and it would just stop.
The story was then boring and predictable, the good and bad people become apparent and, given that our heroin is not a monster the eventual outcome is just a matter of waiting.
Some people may be offended that many of the lead characters are female and some of the lead men are gay and the alien males are too stupid to reach high rank. Whatever, there are too many books where the men are the only people doing anything worthwhile and the women are waiting at home to be rescued or defended. Live with it.
I won't be buying the second book, on the other hand I won't be asking for my money back.

Kudos to Glynn Stewart on this work!
What made the experience of listening to The Terran Privateer the most enjoyable?
The book was extremely well balanced between plot line, characterizations, science fiction and military action.
What other book might you compare The Terran Privateer to and why?
Honor Harrington sans the unnecessary dialog.
What about Hillary Huber’s performance did you like?
Very well suited to the tone and texture of the story
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I wont attempt a spelling of Anne's alien friends name, however she and her race seemed more human than humans, and humans picked up on that.
Any additional comments?
I want more!

Enough with the SJW routine.
I tried to really like this audiobook but what made a very good book into a decent one was the nearly constant Social Justice Warrior undertones. From the man who the protagonist put death, to the numerous mentions of colonization(white man bad) and the authors ham handed efforts to put women in most positions of power just kept pulling me out of the story.

Enjoyed the story!
A good story, plenty of action. The author stole shamelessly from the Honor Harrington series. the main character, a woman, ends up with an eye patch and gives the order, lets be about it. LOL but also very unlike that series . The characters have their own personalities and the twist of plot at the end is unique. look forward to the next book in the series

A comedy of accents
The story is a good one. I've finished reading it on my kindle. The audio version.... don't bother, the accents that the narrator tries to cover is worse than a comedy show.
For the British, if you remember Allo Allo on the TV it's like that. It's so bad it's almost funny!
But like I said the story and the series are good. Well written and engaging it's just the narrator.

Stewart as good as ever.
Glynn Stewart goes from strength to strength, and this marks the start of what I'm sure will prove to be an excellent series.
The narrator however, while mostly good, appears to have attended the Dick van Dyke school for English accents, Horribly grating to this British ear.

Rip roaring space opera
Fast paced and always exciting this is pulp sci fi at its best. True the narration is not great, the English accents, particularly, are dire, and it seems no sooner has a ship been commissioned than it it space junk. Great story if you can get through the narration
Great story if you can get through the narration. The "corblimy" British accents are the worst I have ever heard! But the story is fun and it moves at pace. If you like a space operas and can cope with the truely diabolical accents then give this one a go!

a different kind of alien invasion.
this is something a little different from other versions of this story as the aliens are actually nice guys. I look forward to seeing what happens next in the series.
