Publisher's Summary

Braverman Shaw, "Bravo" to his friends, always knew his father had secrets. But not until his mysterious death does Bravo discover the enormity of his father's hidden life as a high-ranking member of the Order of Gnostic Observatines, a sect founded by followers of St. Francis of Assisi and believed to have been wiped out centuries ago. For more than 800 years, the Order has preserved an ancient cache of documents, including a long-lost Testament attributed to Christ that could shake Christianity to its foundation.

As its latest keeper, Bravo, an accomplished medieval scholar and cryptanalyst, must follow the esoteric clues his father left behind while outsmarting the Knights of St. Clement, a secret society sponsored by the Papacy that has been after the Testament since the Crusades. Bravo has become both a target and a pawn in an ongoing war far larger and more deadly than any he could have imagined. From New York City to Washington, D.C., Paris, Venice, and beyond, the race is on for the quintessential prize...the Testament.

"Eric Van Lustbader is an author who gets better with every book." (Associated Press)
"Like Robert Ludlum, Lustbader is at his best when he is creating a twisted web of intrigue, violence, double cross, and his own brand of oriental esotericism...a master storyteller." (Publishers Weekly)
"Eric Van Lustbader proves again that he is the master of the smart thriller." (Nelson DeMille)

We need the unabridged version

Good book, excellent action.....however, this is one book that should not have been abridged...it makes the action a little hard to follow. I've requested the book from the library.

Keep 'Em Coming

Eric Van Lustbader has done well in picking up Robert Ludlum's Bourne series--the only reason I purchased this book. He has been added to my list of favorites authors. I look forward to his next book.

The Testament

I sgree with Queene, this book has been abridged to death. I can't beleave Lustbader allowed this to be released. As a fan I was very disapointed in its compleate lack of continuity. I will not buy another abridged version.

I've read the book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have recommend it to friends. It's a good story.

What did you like best about this story?

The secret history that may or may not be true. And the danger behind that history

Would you be willing to try another one of Eric Conger’s performances?

The reader was good performer. I was entertained. But I had problems with the production of this audiobook. I don't like abridged audiobooks, and if I would have known that this reading was abridged, I wouldn't have gotten this audiobook.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not. Most movies based on books are disappointing and don't live up to the books they're based on. And as in the Broune series, the movies are great but they have nothing to do with the books.

Who is the traitor?

From beginning to end it was fast paced and ut was hard to keep track of who was really the traitor. Enjoyed the story line and characters.

Never Again

This is my first and last Eric Van Lustbader book, I don't know if the unabridged version would have caused me to write a different review.
But to me the characters lacked soul, and the plot was just not credible enough for me to immerse myself into the story. One of the worst writings so far.
