Story
Homeless, hunted, and desperate to escape a bitter storm, Keira takes refuge in an abandoned groundskeeper's cottage. Her new home is tucked away at the edge of a cemetery, surrounded on all sides by gravestones: Some recent, some hundreds of years old, all suffering from neglect. And in the darkness, she can hear the unquiet dead whispering. The cemetery is alive with faint, spectral shapes, led by a woman who died before her time...and Keira, the only person who can see her, has become her new target.

Story
Clare remembers the cold. She remembers abandoned cars and children’s toys littered across the road. She remembers dark shapes in the snow and a terror she can’t explain. And then...nothing. When she wakes, aching and afraid in a stranger’s gothic home, he tells her she was in an accident. He claims he saved her. Clare wants to leave, but a vicious snowstorm has blanketed the world in white, trapping them together, and there’s nothing she can do but wait. At least the stranger seems kind...but Clare doesn’t know if she can trust him.

Story
Renowned sculptor Allison Weathers doesn’t believe in ghosts. But when a tragic twist of fate leads her to the small mountain town of Dawson Mills, Tennessee, she soon learns that the dead don't always stay silent. Shadows begin to shift in the rambling, old Victorian farmhouse she’s purchased. Voices come from nowhere. She can feel the eyes on her. Paul Bradford, a contractor who is bidding the renovation work on the house, believes it’s more than just Allison’s imagination conjuring up the paranormal activity. Toni Harper, a reporter for the local paper, concurs.

Publisher's Summary
Corona Heights is more than an apartment building. Some believe it is haunted. Others feel it is cursed. None have been willing to confront the terrible secret hidden within its walls. Until now.
Fiona Graves is the building's newest resident. She has given no thought to the darkness of its past. She only wants a place to call home while she begins to rebuild her life. But it will not be that simple. Life in Corona Heights rarely is.
There is something buried inside the walls of her apartment; a secret so horrific, so terrifying, that no one has dared speak of its existence. No one except for Olivia Shelby, the 10-year-old girl who lives next door. Fearing for her life, Olivia is desperate to confront the horrors of Corona Heights, and she has chosen Fiona to help her.
Faced with deadly supernatural forces far beyond their understanding, Fiona and Olivia must reveal the frightening truth of what Corona Heights really is, and the darkness that has, up until now, been safely contained within its walls.
But the pair will quickly discover that Corona Heights is good at keeping its secrets, and it will not surrender them without a fight.

Loved this!
Fiona Graves was arrested for drunk driving while having her son in the car. Her alcoholism was taking over her life and that was her lowest, so she entered rehab. Her husband got full custody of their son and moved. Now 2 years later and Fiona has moved closer to her son and found an apartment in Corona heights. Seems ideal because of where it's located and how cheap the rent is, but this apartment isn't all it seems and Fiona is experiencing some strange things.
I loved this book!! Fiona is a deeply flawed character but is determined to change her life around. Alcohol has ruled her life but when she is caught with her son in the car while intoxicated, it was her lowest point. I admired the fight she put into staying sober and loved how good the author wrote those parts. My father is an alcoholic and I've seen him try to stay sober, so everything the author wrote about this resonated with me. It made me feel more for Fiona because her son was more important to her than anything, and she kept that focus when she thought about relapsing.
The plot of this was awesome!! Living in an apartment where the walls are so thin that you could hear everything in other peoples apartment would be a nightmare for me. Living in an apartment where you hear parents of a little girl being so cruel to her, would be even worse. But when you add in the other things happening in Fionas life, it just made for an even better read.
In all, this was a suspenseful, exciting and entertaining read. When I started it, I was immediately drawn into the world and became invested in the characters, both Fiona and Olivia. My heart broke for the two of them, Olivia because of the way she was treated and Fiona for her battle to be part of her son's life again. I can not wait for the next in this series!!
Anna Castiglioni brought the creepiness of the apartments to life!! She captured the atmosphere perfectly and gave me chills. Her tones and voices were really easy to define and she gave each character their own personalities. She portrayed Olivia perfectly too!!

*Face palm* ANOTHER wasted credit.....
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
No one. Maybe someone who is very young
What could E.M. Parker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The narrator would be the first to go. She sounds like she is super young and very upbeat and doesn't stop to take breaths.... then as you get into the story, you realize she is supposed to be a recovering alcoholic who lost custody of her son. This girl sounds like she could pull off reading a Nancy Drew mystery at best. it isn't all her fault, what I got through of the story wasn't great. Super bad decisions, oh and did I mention NOT scary? Not creepy, not even spooky. Granted I didn't finish the book and maybe there is something in there somewhere... but certainly not worth listening to that voice one more minute.
How could the performance have been better?
Different narrator
What character would you cut from The Thin Wall?
All of them
Any additional comments?
Don't do it!! Don't get sucked in.... I swear... you will want to kick yourself!

Great Paranormal Thriller
I read a lot of content in the paranormal/ghost genre and at this point I expect to not be surprised, I expect that I will be able to guess the evolving plot, I usually do. So it was an extremely pleasant surprise to find the unexpected in this tale! This story starts like The Babadook in that it follows a woman dealing with personal tragedy while trying to be a mother again. That normalcy doesn't last long as Fiona finds herself whisked away in a series of ghostly happenings in her new apartment building. Her attention shifts from her own son to the little girl next door crying out for help and in order to help her neighbor she will have to solve a deadly mystery rooted in Corona Heights.
Anna Castiglioni did a fantastic job with narration - I think voicing children is particularly difficult and she absolutely nailed it! I'd recommend this story to anyone who enjoys the paranormal genre.

A great ghost story!
If you could sum up The Thin Wall in three words, what would they be?
Spooky, compelling, and strangely addictive (I didn't want to put the book down!).
What other book might you compare The Thin Wall to and why?
Hmmm, that's a tough one. It had the typical ghost story feel to it...it's hard to put into words but most ghost stories are all similar in some key ways, you see the same tropes popping up again and again (the character who's actually a ghost but you don't know it until the end, the dark back story; usually some sort of crime/grisly murder, the supernatural element that's not believable but the central character(s) are just flawed/troubled enough to be able to suspend disbelieve repeatedly to allow the story to progress...). In that way this story was similar to many of the big ones (most of the stories in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The 6th Sense, The Shining, etc.).
Have you listened to any of Anna Castiglioni’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I'd love to...she was great! Very soothing voice and believable. She did a nice job bringing the characters to life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Another typical ghost story...but you'll love it anyways because it's interesting, it flows well, and it's delightfully spooky.
Any additional comments?

I love horror books, and thrillers. I listen to them often. Some of then tend to blend in. Not to say that they are bad books, but they are the same storyline.
This book was very refreshing. Not only was it good, but it had a new story line. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes this genre. and are horror and psychological thrillers fans.

Excellent spooky tale!
Super creepy story set in a run down disheveled apartment complex. Recovering alcoholic Fiona has followed her ex and child across the country in an attempt to regain visitation. While she struggles with sobriety some strange things begin to happen around her new apartment and she befriends a young neighbor through the paper thin walls. Creepy neighbors, mystery, and strange happenings, equal a great ghost story! Fabulous narration as well! A haunted apartment building
Having uprooted her life from Washington to Denver in the hopes of getting custody of her son, Fiona settles into the Corona Heights apartment complex and finds herself in a creepy building in E.M. Parker’s The Thin Wall. After having been arrested for drunk driving with her son in the car, Fiona’s life hit rock bottom, forcing her to face her alcoholism and other issues. But the apartment keeps drawing Fiona’s attention. Her next door neighbors, Natalie and Noah, get in screaming matches in between their loud metal music that drives her crazy, while Fiona has conversations with Olivia, Natalie’s 10-year-old daughter, through the very thin wall separating their bedrooms. Then the janitor who lives down the hall turns up dead, apparently of suicide, but with some questionable features.
This book is filled with intrigue and creepy details. I kept asking myself whether the strange events were real, with a natural explanation, or supernatural. The details sometimes made me shiver.
Anna Castiglioni performs the audio version of this book. I really appreciated the way she had tears in her voice when characters were crying and almost made me cry. She has a unique voice and empathizes with the characters in her narration. She helped to bring me more deeply into the story.
The Thin Wall does a lot to keep the readers drawn to the story in this book. The character of Fiona comes across as a very real woman dealing with the challenges of life and determined to turn over a new leaf. I don’t usually like creepy books, and this wouldn’t be my first choice of listening material, but I was pulled into this book, almost against my will. I give it four stars.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the narrator, but that in no way affected my review of it.
