Publisher's Summary

Who is Jesus Christ? In The Third Jesus, best-selling author and spiritual leader Deepak Chopra provides an answer to this question that is both a challenge to current systems of belief and a fresh perspective on what Jesus can teach us all, regardless of our religious background. There is not one Jesus, Chopra explains, but three.

First, there is the historical Jesus, the man who lived more than 2,000 years ago and whose teachings are the foundation of Christian theology and thought. Next, there is Jesus the Son of God, who has come to embody an institutional religion with specific dogma, a priesthood, and devout believers. And finally, there is the third Jesus, the cosmic Christ, the spiritual guide whose teaching embraces all humanity, not just the church built in his name. He speaks to the individual who wants to find God as a personal experience.

When we take Jesus literally, we are faced with the impossible. How can we truly "love thy neighbor as thyself"? But when we see the exhortations of Jesus as invitations to join him on a higher spiritual plane, his words suddenly make sense. In this way, Jesus can be seen for the universal teacher he truly is - someone whose teachings can embrace and be embraced by all of us.

Critic Reviews

"Jesus has now long since escaped the confines of church, Christianity and even 'religions'. Chopra's book thoughtfully presents a Jesus who is paradoxically both closer to the original and more available to post-modern people than the stained glass version." (Harvey Cox, Hollis Professor of Divinity, Harvard University)

Thank you Jesus and Deepak

What a breath of needed fresh air. This book was written in 2008 BUT it is more important than ever to read it now in 2020. I am listening to this book for a second time, immediately after finishing it. Deepak gives us historical information based on scripture. He takes that same scripture and gives us practices to implement it into our lives. And then he clarifies the hypocritical nature of the fundamental church and followers to what Jesus actually taught. Finally, he tells us what we can do now to support Jesus’ teachings. The only disappointment is that Deepak DID NOT read this book. It is beautifully read, but as a student of Deepak’s, I was hoping for his familiar cadence.

A message for our time that is timeless

Wait and see for yourself if this is worthy.
The last half of the book is more focused towards its title “The Third Jesus” I was happy to have known a deeper relationship with Jesus of the New Testament. I am very blessed to have access Deepak Chopra’s amazing insight into the life of Jesus and his word of the living God within all of us.

Not for believers in Yeshua

this book and its title are meant to deceive believers in the true anointed king of Israel and creation. Don't bother listening to this NEW AGE book.
