Publisher's Summary

The Time of Contempt: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

Soon to be a major Netflix original series!

To protect his ward, Ciri, Geralt of Rivia, sends her away from the home of the Witchers to train with the sorceress Yennefer. But all is not well within the Wizard's Guild in the second book of the NYT best-selling series that inspired the blockbuster video games.

Geralt is a witcher: guardian of the innocent; protector of those in need; a defender, in dark times, against some of the most frightening creatures of myth and legend. His task, now, is to protect Ciri. A child of prophecy, she will have the power to change the world for good or for ill - but only if she lives to use it.

Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series.

Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Story is great. needs less distracting noise

I'd love to hear the story without having to go back and listen frequently because some shortsighted person can employ a musician along with cheesy sound effects to prevent a quality story be heard.

Music

I am a huge fan of the Witcher series. I accidentally bought the music version and I couldn’t stand to listen to it any longer. Completely ruined the dialogue for me.

Great narrator, good story

I enjoyed the narration very much. However there is an error in the edition, regarding Ciri's age. One of the chapters she spent time in Skellige with Crach at age 14, but Cintra had already been invaded at that time. I consulted someone who read the Polish version and they confirmed this was not right in the English version.

Wasn't a fan of the content background music.

I found the background music to be very distracting. Hopefully future books won't incorporate this addition.

absolutely loved this.

The story is definitely enhanced with the ambient sounds and music to help with the theme and set mood of the scenes.

ditch the music as it takes away from the words

narrator is amazing, but that music has got to go. I understand the value it presents, but it is often too loud to hear the words.

Book track is the worst.

Why does book track exist? I just want to listen to the book. Stop it.

Warning: Booktrack Version

If, like me, you found this book by clicking the 'series' link in the details section of the previous book, turn back now and navigate your way to the next "Time Of Contempt" option listed in the series.

This is the Booktrack version. This means there are background sounds added to scenes that don't need them and background music added to sections that would be better off without it.

The narrator does a fine job. The Booktrack audio serves only to annoy and distract.
Ultimately, it didn't ruin the experience, but I certainly wish I'd purchased the standard version
