Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Each of us has but one life to live on this earth. What we do with it is our choice. Are we drifting through it as spectators, reacting to our circumstances when necessary and wondering just how we got to this point anyway? Or are we directing it, maximizing the joy and potential of every day, living with a purpose or mission in mind? Too many of us are doing the former - and our lives are slipping away one day at a time. But what if we treated life like the gift that it is? What if we lived each day as though it was part of a bigger picture, a plan?

Publisher's Summary
A courageous, life-changing memoir that teaches us to apply the lessons learned by those nearing their death to our own life.
After too many years of unfulfilling work, Bronnie Ware began searching for a job with meaning. Despite having no formal qualifications or experience, she found herself working in palliative care.
During the time she spent tending to the needs of those who were dying, Bronnie's life was transformed. Later, she wrote an Internet blog post about the most common regrets that the people she had cared for had expressed to her. The post, also called 'The Top Five Regrets of the Dying', gained so much momentum that it was viewed by more than three million people worldwide in its first year. At the request of many, Bronnie now shares her personal story.
Bronnie has had a colourful and diverse life. By applying the lessons of those nearing their death to her own life, she developed an understanding that it is possible for everyone, if they make conscious choices, to die with peace of mind. In this heartfelt retelling, Bronnie expresses the significance of these regrets. She explains how we can address these issues positively now, while we still have the time.
The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing gives hope for a better world. Bronnie's delightful memoir is a courageous, life-changing book that will leave you feeling more compassionate and inspired to live the life you are truly here to live.

Ok book
Ok book - more of an autobiography of the author with a lot of irrelevant information and stories. I was thinking it was more of a dive into the top five regrets of the dying, which seemed to be only a small part of the book.

The author uses much of the the book to describe her own life experiences at tedious length mixed with her own pocket philosophy and new age bla bla. This is not what I expected. I want my money back.

Disappointing
Base on the title, I was anxious to read this book, especially since a close family member has terminal cancer. But I bailed out a few chapters into it. The author rambles from her solo travels, to her diet, to her relationship with her mother, etc. I would have preferred that she just get to the point. Could have been a concise, easy, impactful read. Unfortunately, that is not what it is.

More About Her Life Than the Dying
The book's title is a bit deceptive. It's really about her journey as a caretaker in the persons she ran across. While her sample size is larger than most people would have, it's far from a scientific study. Nonetheless the points are well-made, and it's hard to argue with some of her conclusions.

Deceptive Title - Don't waste your time
This is basically 90% a memoir of the author (which is basically totally boring and meandering), 5% random stories of people dying, and 5% (at best) of "regrets of the dying". Could not finish this mind numbing trash. The author should be ashamed for essentially ripping people off, because the title is totally deceptive.

Self-Indulgent
This book is less about the regrets of the dying and more about Bronnie reminding everyone that she is a vegan, meditates, practices yoga, is a songwriter, doesn’t drink, and that she prefers a nomadic lifestyle. Every chapter seems to be a masked virtue signal and doesn’t explore any new areas with regard to “living life to the fullest.” That oft used platitude is about as deep as this book goes. Pretty disappointing.

Get this book in your life before it is too late!
What an emotional rollercoaster. I think Bronnie has done her "patients" proud, she has passed on what they wanted the world to know and what a great messenger she is! The messages are so strong in this book, the supporting stories increase the impact of the words greatly. Bronnie seems like a completely enlightened person, certainly a spirit making the most if her human experience, which I think adds even more impact to the words.
I think this book would be of great value to everyone. We could all learn a lot from Bronnie and a lot from those that have died...

Super inspiring book
I felt it was a heartwarming and uplifting book. It’s not a fact based ‘do this, do that’ book, but weaves the author’s life story together with the things she learnt. I felt motivated to change things in my life.
However, if you are not open to someone sharing their alternative lifestyle, this book might not be for you. Despite the many experiences of death, I feel it is an uplifting book. It left me grateful knowing, what people regret. And realising I still have the time to change things. A highly inspiring read!

Scant connection with title
This rambles through personal recollections of the authors loneliness in banking and musical careers, contemplating suicide, eventually finding a suitable man and becoming pregnant.
What is said about the “five regrets” occupies no more than a tenth of what is mostly monotonous self indulgence.

A lovely story of the journey a caring and kind soul took to make others comfortable in their final days - but what they shared is what will put your life in to context. Material things are pointless, what others think is a wase of energy. Will listen to this book again I am sure.

This is a great book everyone should read or listen.
It talks very honestly about the experience of Bronnie working with dying people, her lessons learned and her own transformation in the process of taking care of dying people.
Reading this books let’s you learn from the regrets of others and gives clarity on how to live your life so that regret does not come to you when your time comes by.

Unsurprising regrets but important to hear
None of the five lessons are surprising. However this book is still a compelling read and will hopefully make you rethink your own life and whether you are living it to the fullest - whether you will have any regrets when your time comes. And Bronnie's tale makes you realise that your time will indeed come - and sooner than you think, which is very sobering. Yes you can just look up the five regrets and think about them, but reading this book provides background and evidence for them, making them much more real and urgent. Although Bronnie has a tendency to fall into ungrounded soliloquies which come across as a bit of mumbo-jumbo, it is also fascinating and humbling to hear about her life as a palliative carer with stories about death which most of us never directly experience in our daily lives.

could have finished after regret 5
I think after the 5th regret I could have left it. I did stay on until the end, but I think it detracted from the beginning. it became less about the lessons and more about the author, which really detracted from this sharing of other people's stories. it felt a bit of a meander.

awareness, kindness, self love and forgiveness
loved it
truly inspiring
it sounds a little sad, but it isn't only sad, it's filled with hope and love and compassion too.
it really helps understanding life and death.
the importance of family, friends and awareness.
the role we have in our life and in those of others.
the weight of expectations.
how much interacting in positive and kind ways can make a big change...
lots to learn, lots to love!
think like a monk of Jay Shetty is a great follow up book too

Loved it
I found this to be a really insightful and thought provoking book, delivered by a gentle and beautiful soul. Thank you so much Bronnie for sharing your experiences. I was especially moved by the later chapter about peeling away the layers of the onion during that time of darkness before the dawn. I hope that you keep doing what you are doing, you are making a real and beautiful difference in this world.
