Cognitive behavioral therapy is a type of psychotherapy that works around the assumption that there are simply some behaviors that cannot be controlled through conscious thought alone. In fact, it posits that all behaviors actually occur thanks to a mixture of internal and external stimuli and a lifetime of conditioning in one of an infinite number of ways and offers up numerous different exercises that can be done on your own as a way to replace negative habits with positive ones.

Publisher's Summary
Dr. Mort Orman has been studying stress and the impact of negative thinking on your health, success and life for years. After dozens of years of research, he found that simply managing stress isn't good enough! Instead of managing stress in a way that never solves your root problems, it's time for a better approach that actually lets you win the game of stress!
You see, most people don't understand that there is are invisible rules that create stress in your life. And because these rules are invisible and we're not taught them in school or by the media or popular culture, most people live their whole lives never understanding how stress actually works. That's why someone can spend their entire life trying to manage stress and still feel stressed out, grumpy and generally unhappy about life. It's not your fault! You just haven't been taught the rules of stress that will help you win in life.
In this audiobook, you will discover these hidden rules and learn exactly what to do about stress to get rid of it instead of spending all your time trying to just manage stress.

The longest commercial you will ever hear.
This book contains about 98% bragging and advertising of the author's accomplishments and other publidhed works without any actual hard substance. Long, impractical hustle. The closest to practical passage was talk of an "invisible game" of backgammon, and a *really* poor attempt to parallel that to an invisible game of stress. The author bashes mainstream stress management philosophies and approaches, promises chapter after chapter to reveal how to banish stress with no real, methodical way ever described. Just because he uses counting numbers (1, 2 and 3) does not mean the items are worth more than dung. Do not buy or download. Total waste of time.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
actually offering some helpful information
What do you think your next listen will be?
nothing along these lines, I'll go back to historical recordings to help me to relax
How could the performance have been better?
If the reader did not sound so condescending
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment blended with 'you get what you pay for'
Any additional comments?
I felt for the first nine chapters that I was being advertised to. I was offended by the tone of the reader. The performance and the material actually caused me stress. The book was cheap but a waste of my money.

Too negative about stress management methods
What disappointed you about The Ultimate Method for Dealing with Stress?
the author ( Orman)is a physcian not a psychologist.( Stress is a mental state of mind not a physical illness ) He kept on talking about dealing with root causes and he opposed strongly against the ( stress management method e.g. exercise , eat healthy food , sunlight , socializing , activities , social support ).I read Doctor LLardi (cure depression : 6 steps ::book ) which is a very good book . Doctor Llardi actually said that he cured many depression patients in Hospitals in America using ( Stress management or Therapeutic Lifestyle change method as he called it )Orman actually did not seem to ADDRESS the important point :: that stress is a mental state of mind ,the root of illness most likely sprang from lack of any area in the Hierarchy of human needs : namely the need for safety( that is why fear causes stress ) ,the need for food and water, the need for confidence and self esteem etc. anybody feels a lack of any area in the hierarchy of needs ,stress and depression appears !!
What was most disappointing about Doc Orman MD’s story?
He opposes against (Stress management )
He talked about "anger " as one of the root causes , however anger is part of " stress management "method
What didn’t you like about Matt Stone’s performance?
His narration is alright !
What character would you cut from The Ultimate Method for Dealing with Stress?
Orman did not address all the psychological cause of stress ( the hierarchy of human needs ) He thought that stress is caused by only anger and pressure at work ,saddnes and emotions etc. however Doctor Llardi and other psychologists all listed these bad emotions under the root cause of stress and depression as Ruminations (Ruminations --which is the re-ocurrence of negative thoughts caused by the results of bad emotions ,anger ,saddness etc. ) in my opinion, hypnotherapy which adresses one's inner instinctive self to calm down or remove the negative thoughts is an effective method .
Any additional comments?
would have like the author cover all the root causes of stress based on the " Human Hierarchy of Needs " e.g. ruminations
