The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution
Was the Ultimate Weight Loss Solution meant to be an introduction to the Keto diet? This audiobook was full of excellent advice and suggestions but the last chapter consisted of pitching the Keto diet, I think. Which is fine but isn't mentioned in the blurb. I can't personally comment on the keto diet as I haven't tried it. I know people who are on it, people who have tried it, and both people who like and dislike it. Just in my opinion I suppose the keto diet can be tailor made to suit each individual. It doesn't have to be followed entirely. That being said, overall this was a good listen with other great info.
The narrator, Lydia Joy tate spoke very clearly. She was easy to follow. There were a few places where the audio had some issues but otherwise it was good.

Keto by any other name...
I liked this book... I wanted to LOVE this book... and for the first few chapters I did; but then it got to the end. The last fifth of the book is nothing more than a sales pitch mixed with a how-to guide to the Keto diet... also known as the latest craze that will eventually be shown to be lacking just like the South Beach Diet, Atkins, the Low-Fat Diet, and every other fad diet that came before. But, just because it ended poorly doesn't mean it doesn't still contain good information that can help others. So - you know my opinion on the last 1/5th of the book - the rest of this review is about the first 4/5ths which I very much enjoyed and I think anyone seeking a healthy lifestyle and sustainable change would benefit form reading.
This book doesn't claim to be revolutionary, it doesn't claim to have a magic fix that will suddenly and instantaneously change your life for the better and make all of your weight loss goals become a reality (Again, in all but the final chapter at least). This start of the book explains, at its core, that while weight loss isn't EASY it is SIMPLE. It provides straightforward tools to implement habits and behaviors that can help you instill incremental change in your life that will ultimately lead to a healthier lifestyle and ultimately weight loss **regardless of the meal plan/diet approach you choose to get there**. All of which is packaged in a sustainable and realistic approach that enables long term success and helps to break the fad diet "crash and binge" cycle. While I would have liked more detail on some of the sections, the information provided is mostly backed by scientific evidence and provides a great overview of the main aspects of motivation, will power, habit forming, sustainability, and more.
The first chapters of this book wont change your life, but they'll give you the fundamental knowledge and functional tools you need to change it for yourself.
The last chapter... Well - if you're interested in Keto, it's a comprehensive guide to starting and maintaining a keto diet. Personally, I was hoping for something more than that from this book given the strong opening.

This book appears to recommend the keto diet
Overall, I really enjoyed listening to the first part of this book. It lulled me into a false sense of security though. There was a lot about fad diets being bad for your body and for long-term weight loss.
I'm an ethical vegan (and no, not all vegans are skinny) so I was pleased to find a book which purported to focus on long-term healthy eating rather than fad diets.
HOWEVER, the last chapter appears to recommend the keto diet with lots of recommendations for eating high fat meat and cheese based meals and no fruit. I find it hard to believe that long-term ketosis with little or no fruit and only 20g of carbs a day can be healthy for anyone.
