From Minneapolis to Louisville, to Portland, Kenosha, and Washington, DC, America’s reckoning with its unmet promises on race and class is at a boiling point not seen since the 1960s. While conversations around pathways to progress take place on social media and cable TV, history tells us that meaningful change only comes with radical legislation and boots-on-the-ground activism. Great Book!
This was a truly enlightening read. I would recommend this book to any black person who would like to understand themselves better from a mental health perspective, and to any non-black person who is interested in understanding how the black people with whom they interact might be affected my factors such as micro aggressions or discrimination. I loved that the author not only gave an explanation of how black mental health has gotten to this state, but also equipped black individuals with strategies to help bolster our mental health. Awesome read!

This is a decent book
It shifts its focus part of the way through and becomes about females almost specifically. That’s fine, but as a male it was hard to feel like she was speaking to me and/or trying to help me.
But there were parts that were helpful.

Honestly, Needed this.
I absolutely loved this book because of all the lessons I learned as a Black man. Although the words in the book is definitely guided towards Black Women, all women of color could get something from the lessons here. Definitely sending to my mom to let her know, I understand her pain a little more now, my Love for her only increased.
This year I came face to face with my own thoughts of suicide, being fed up of being misunderstood, in the military I still feel like I have to act certain way that goes beyond standard. This book has helped me, Love who I am and who my Black family is a whole lot more.
