Story
After a bumpy start as the only female demon hunter in the top secret Brotherhood of David, Nava Katz heads to Prague for her first undercover mission: unmasking a demon movie star. She'd be all kinds of thrilled if it weren't for the fact that her fellow hunter-with-benefits, Rohan Mitra, has reclaimed his rock star status and assigned Nava the role of groupie. Rejecting her "be a good girl and follow orders" directive, Nava unleashes an alter ego guaranteed to hook their celebrity target and drive Rohan crazy.

I wouldn’t say my life is a dumpster fire — but it’s far from typical. I’m frenemies with the local werewolves’ Alpha, my clients are shady as hell, and my magic falls firmly in the WTF category. For a decade, I’ve hated the supernaturals who owned my world. I hunted them. I killed them. And now, in the most grand twist of fate - I am bonded to one of them. Oh, the irony. Being a supernatural bounty hunter isn’t exactly a popular job. But after the magic wars, there aren’t many things a human can do that will put food on the table. Thankfully, anything my right hook can’t handle, my guns can. Or so I thought.

Now, she and her two best friends are seeing things that belong in a fantasy novel. Ghosts. Visions. Omens of doom. Nothing that belongs in the peaceful mountain town they call home. Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

Publisher's Summary
The Brotherhood wants her gone. The demons want her dead. Not bad for her first day as a Chosen One.
When Nava Katz half-drunkenly interrupts her twin brother's induction ceremony into a secret supernatural society, she doesn’t expect to accidentally torch his life-long dream and steal his destiny.
Horrified she’s now expected to take his place, Nava is faced with the one thing she swore off forever: a purpose.
The all-male squad isn’t cool with a woman in their ranks and assigns her to Rohan Mitra: former rock god and their most ruthless hunter. He may be the perfect bad boy fling with no strings attached, but what happens when he won’t let her run - not even from herself?
That might prove as dangerous as defeating the vengeful demon out for her brother’s blood.
Odds of her new teammates expecting her to fail? Best not to think about that.
Odds her succeeding out of spite?

Amazing
This book is absolutely hilarious. I was dying of laughter in the middle of my office to the point where I actually had to take the ear buds out and explain to my bewildered coworkers why I was laughing so hard. At one point, I left the room altogether and listened to the scene outside where I wouldn't be a distraction to others. Very good book that brightened my boring Saturday.

Pass this one!
I could not finish this book. The story started out so funny and entertaining that I immediately order the second book. I listened to 5 hours of the book and 80% of Nava’s conversation was sexual. Nava is a horny, mouthy, irresponsible young lady. Her powers manifested when she was giving a hand job to a demon. Granted she did not know that he was a demon, but it set the tone for the book. She whines because she was chosen over her brother and because she did not have the years of training like the others. She looks at all the men as a sexual object.
The demon club is an old Jewish organization created to fight demons, it is similar to the Templars. Young Jewish males are identified at birth to have the characteristics to become a hunter. They spend 20 or 21 years of training. On their 21st birthday they are tested for their magic ability.
I am not a prude. I don’t expect urban fantasy genre to be on par with fine literature. I do like a little romance and even a roll in the hay, swearing is okay too. I like strong kick ass women, with a little snark and she MUST be intelligent. Nava is missing the intelligence, and self-respect even a sexual liberated woman must have. I return the second book.

nice to have a more organic attraction between the two she is a party girl who seems to be constantly in heat surround around a bunch of very attractive men and hooked up with the first aggressive man that came on to her after she found out he was great in bed she wanted more and more of it. He on the other hand seems like naval reminds him of someone and is a major control freak which excites her more. So reguardles how poorly he treats her she will still go back for her physical needs. At least it's not a vampire blood bond or a psychic mating bond that forces them to feel good and be together it's just pure lust

Unlikable is right!
** spoiler alert ** The Unlikeable Demon Hunter
Nava Katz Series, Book 1
By: Deborah Wilde
Narrated by: Hollie Jackson
This book has a set of twins that are brother and sister and the brother has been studying his whole life to be in this secret Jewish demon hunting club. The sister is pretty much a joke, has no job, parties too much and sleeps around. During the ceremony, she is picked and not her brother. This causes problems in the family and in the demon hunting club. The way she kills one demon is by a very sexual scene.
I found the book OK with some witty moments but most of it was crude, boring, whining, and really nothing new in the fantasy world. I can't say I liked any of the characters. Maybe the brother.
The narrator was pretty good!

Pass!
I couldn't finish this one. It started off ok. Mouthy, oversized, irresponsible 20 year old is chosen over her twin brother to be part of a super secret Jewish organzation that hunts demons. Her twin trains his whole life for this and BAM he's not chosen during the ceremony. She is. She spends the whole book whining about how she can get her brother his life back, trying to absorb a lifetime of instruction in a matter of days and having sex.
I did not like how she was treated by the organization because she was the first female. I didn't like how her parents and brother made it seem like it was her fault that she was chosen. No wonder she had an attitude and didn't like herself much. She hadno support and no one believed she could do it. The plot was boring. A demon after her for killing his son with a hand job and another plot that roles into book 2.
I'm sorry I wasted a credit on this. Not going to continue with the series.

A great breath of fresh air has just blown my mind
The premise is nothing new bad ass girl gets thrown into a male dominant world and has to struggle to keep up with the boys.
Oh, but how well it is written. As a true audiobook junkie I love to find these rare jewels and devour them. In a nut shell, young single Jewish girl gets herself placed into a group of Alpha males whose singular job is to kill demons. No girl has ever been where she finds herself, but fortunately she has enough attitude to get the chance to show she can play with the big boys. There is sex in this book but from my viewpoint as an older male who has had many a frank talks with enough women to know the sex shown from a woman's POV in this book is pretty right on the nose. The story moves along and keeps the reader involved. I finished this book in less then a day, which made for a long day. I'm buying the next one...

The only thing keeping this book going is the wit
This book lacks a co herent narrative, and any decent story line. the only thing keeping this book going is the wit and the weird mutterings of a teenage girl. My daughter listened to this and the scene involving her personal magic and a private moment was just too much for her. Please note that this book has some seriously weird scenes in it and is not suitable for children and public listening. However, the wit is so good you almost want to waste your time with the next book in the series.

What other book might you compare The Unlikeable Demon Hunter to, and why?
Darynda Jones's Charley Davidson series
Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I enjoyed most of hers personalization.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The kiss at the end of the book. It was really special moment for the lead characters.

Not great.
This could have been great but didn't quite do it for me. The story just wasn't as interesting as it sounded and Nava is rather annoying, crass and crude. The other supporting characters aren't all that likeable or endearing either. The narrator was also a let down. Her reading style is a strange mix of over dramatic and monotone. At times she sounds like she's reading a menu or shopping list.
