Wrong narrator

From what I was able to get through, this looks like a really good book but the narrator totally threw me off. It sounded like an elderly man reading and while he’s a good narrator, he’s not the one for this story. I’ll pick up the ebook instead.

grandpa dont talk about sex! Fingers in ears lala

I tried to finish this book but the narrator is wrong, so hard to listen to. His voice is elderly, booming and so slow. I thought it would be ok if I just listened at a faster speed but even at max speed just no. also he's emotionless, like he's narrating a dry factual report or a instruction manual.
Hearing him say things like "my cunt" (which should be in a sexual way and is not) takes me out of the story completely. In my head it's like grandpa dont talk to me about sex! Fingers in ears lalalalala.
What story I got through was ok but I couldn't finish, it wasn't enjoyable, I was forcing myself to listen. A different narrator would make a world of difference.
This narrator needs a different genre entierly.
I dont really ever write reviews, and I'm never so harsh but dont get this book! waste of a credit.

No no just no

I couldn’t get through the first chapter because of the narrator. Narrators can make or break an audio book.

Great Book! but narrator makes me CRINGE!

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this audiobook. When listening to the sample, I thought "Well, this is the male point of view, and while not a great choice, I think I can push past it." WRONG! That old man voice you hear in the sample reads the WHOLE book! It makes you feel like your grandfather is reading you a sex story! UGH! **CRINGE** I couldn't make it past the first chapter. They could not have chosen a worse narrator for this book! So disappointing! I wish I could refund.

Great story Bad Narrorator

OMGoodbness. Let me start by saying I love love love S.J. Sanders books. I’ve read the orc wife and troll wife and I love them both. But this one, I was planning to read but when I saw it on audible I purchased it instantly. The story is great however the narrator they picked was not the best. I mean come on! The last thing I want to here is a man well over his 80’s (that’s what he sounds like) narrating a Sci-Fi romance from a woman’s point of view. I mean his voice was very cruddy and when it came to the love scenes it was cringe worthy. It was like my grandpa narrating a love scene. Could not get into it. Quite halfway and purchased the book and read the rest. Please SJ Sanders get a better narrator.

Listen at 1.3X’s speed the. Good

For my fellow readers, this is a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line. The issue you will notice in all the comments is about the poor narrator. I found that by increasing the speed of the book to 1.3 or even 1.4 , then the narrator sounds like he is speaking correctly. If that doesn’t help then I suggest reading the book on paper or such. It is unfortunate that a good book is dealt a horrible blow by poorly produced finished product. I have still Re listened and enjoyed but always faster.

Glad the narrator was changed for the next book

Good story but the narrator sounds like an 80 year old asthmatic alcoholic... not remotely sexy 😬 can’t wait to listen to book 2!

Sci-fi romance

There were several things I liked about this audiobook, and several things that I didn’t. The story itself was pretty good, except the different alien races had complicated names that were hard to remember and I kept getting confused about who were the good aliens and the bad aliens. The author could have done more with world building. It was vague about the planet the heroine was on except that it was cold. My biggest issue with the audiobook was the narrator, who I felt wasn’t the right choice. While he did use inflection and changed character voices a little bit, he was obviously elderly and sounded like my grandfather! It’s hard to listen to a sexy scene in a senior citizens voice. For these reasons I didn’t rate the book as high as I would have if these things were different. I listen to hundreds of audiobooks a year and this just wasn’t one I’ll listen to again. Sorry.

Ok story but the narrator doesn't fit.

This is not the usual world building and romance from S J Sanders. It's definitely not up to the standard of the Orc Wife where the world building was much stronger but at this point when I'm reading for serious escape and entertainment (pandemic anyone?) it'll do. Guaranteed HEA with a little drama in the middle? I'm there. I won't say the narrator is awful because he does convey attitude and emotion and he definitely switches voices in a recognisable way for the characters BUT, and this is a big but, he does not fit this story. I think he'd be great in some other book, just not this one. As for the story, I feel like it wouldn't have lulled as much if it was shorter. I couldn't understand the "leave it and see" approach when so much that was so important to them was at stake, and that thing with the challenge just turned me off. This was going to be a 3-star rating up til that point. It's just not what I got accustomed to from this author. All the elements are there but not much is happening with them.

***Narrator's sounds like an old man***

It could have been an awesome book it has everything an alien abduction story but the narrator didn't do much justice, I kept imagining Vitok as an old man and he sounds like a he has a cold when he does Sarah or any females. I got used to it along the way but I still kept imagining their old men lol
