Publisher's Summary
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.
The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. She finds her groom-to-be living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day. Weird. But not as weird as what she doesn't know. Her groom-to-be is a 400-year-old vampire.
Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the arranged setup to make his overbearing grandmother happy. In 30 days, whatever bridezilla shows up at his door will be escorted right back out. His past means love is no longer an option. Not if the woman's going to have a future. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.
Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets....

A Major letdown.
I had high hopes for this book and series, but my wife and I decided that this was a big nope. First and foremost BJ Harrison does a great job with his narration and I was pleasantly surprised that it was a male voice and not a female reading us the story.
I was hoping for a bit more Molly Harper mixed with Jeanine Frost, but instead, we were presented with Molly Harper meets Twilight. This is a not so fun book. I didn't care for Delaney, and there were no real consequences to her story. She runs away from a murder and ends up in Nocturne Falls pretending to be someone else. Once our hero Hugh finds out, there's no consequence to that. There's some jealousy over an ex, that leads to the only real suspense, but is resolved quickly and without consequence. There's a romance that lasts about a week and then our story comes to a conclusion. Vampires have no real downside in this book, while it's neat they don't look down upon humans, they're basically perfect. They eat, there are powers that let them walk in the daylight, they just have to drink some blood which doesn't seem to be an issue, they do ALL the things humans do with just an inconvenience of drinking blood. The thing is, we don't get any reason as to why the vampires are the way they are. There's no world building other than it's Halloween all the time to cover up supernatural stuff.
I think the most frustrating thing is that this book is chaste and very PG. There's no romance, very little kissing, and sexy time is fade to black. I wasn't looking for smut per say, but seriously fade to black is more tame than broadcast TV. For a book Audible rates as "Simmering" on their romance scale and didn't have much else going for it, that was just more disappointment. We won't be reading any more Kristen Painter.

Loved It!....... It was Clean, Funny, and Sweet!
What made the experience of listening to The Vampire's Mail Order Bride the most enjoyable?
There are three things I really liked about this story.
1. The characters! I loved how both the main and supporting characters were developed. You also got a glimpse of the different characters that will be coming up in future stories.
2. Nocturne Falls - Halloween all year long! I loved this town and all the creative shops and holiday's.
3. The Plot - A funny light romance!
What about B.J. Harrison’s performance did you like?
B.J. Harrison performance was hands down one of the best I've listened to. I loved how each character had their own voice and accent and was easily distinguishable between the characters. He was also did a great job projecting inflection into the tone of the characters throughout the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laughed, Laughed, and Laughed! :-)
I loved Delaney and her inter thoughts, her random chocolate facts, and her cat "Captain Underpants."
Any additional comments?
This was a fun story to listen to; it was clean, funny, and well written. I could easily listen to this story again and again!

No. Just....No.
This was the worst vampire chick lit romance I've ever read and that is saying something. Pretty sure the idea for the entire book was based on how many punny names the author could come up with for shops in Nocturne Falls. The book was full of shop-worn clichés and unrealistic characters. Yes, even for fantasy characters, their motivations seemed thin.
The reader's pronunciation of a few words was shaky, but his main problem was over-enunciating words like "but-ter". There's a fine line between clean diction and a completely unnatural and jarring sound.

NEW TELEVISION SHOW IN THE MAKINGS????
If you could sum up The Vampire's Mail Order Bride in three words, what would they be?
FRESH. COOL. AWESOME.
What did you like best about this story?
It was refreshing outlook on the supernatural. It was cool that there was "love" in the air, however, not an overabundance of sexual verbiage. Awesome because they have likable characters - ones that could be the making of a new TV show.
Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favorite?
I am sorry, BJ Harrison was great in all the performances, I can't pick just one, although I really loved Hugh's Rook.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!!
Any additional comments?
Not really, although I would suggest to Kristen Painter to seek out people in the Hollywood scene and pitch this as a possible show. I have listented (audio) to 4 of the books in this series and have just downloaded the 5th. This little town could be the next supernatural show success. I rest my case!

So much fun!
What did you love best about The Vampire's Mail Order Bride?
I really enjoyed the character development of the protagonists; you feel like you're part of their world and want to hang out with them.
What other book might you compare The Vampire's Mail Order Bride to and why?
The book is really one of a kind (I mean it's like Halloween year round!), but if I had to compare I'd say it's maybe a bit like the Half-Moon Hollow series by Molly Harper
What does B.J. Harrison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I read the book and listened to it, so hearing B.J. Harrison lend voices to the characters was an added bonus. He has a real talent for inflection and you feel as if each character has his or own voice. I'll admit I was skeptical about the choice of narrator at first, but I was so wrong!
Any additional comments?
Take a chance, use a credit, and listen to this book... it's light, fun, and entertaining! I loved this first book, and the other books in the series are wonderful also. I anxiously await more from Nocturn Falls.

Easy read
Really easy to read, not much to say, a love story between a human and a vampire. Not so credible from time to time, but a sweet enjoyable romance. Predictable but that's not the point. Some good humor, but not too much. The reader was really good. I don't think I would have enjoyed as much the written book, rad by myself.

Incredible story and outstanding narration
Any additional comments?
I've read The Vampire's Mail Order Bride, so knew I would like the story; I was unprepared for how spot-on the narration was. This is only my second Audio book, but if the narration remains this good, I can see myself getting hooked.
BJ Harrison was able to make you feel a part of the story; you knew by the tone and accent he used which character was speaking, or even thinking. This is particularly impressive when you consider it is a love story at heart, with multiple characters of both genders, raised in different times and circumstances, all of which affects their speech patterns.
I've been a fan of Kristen Painter's for a while. Now, I am also a fan of BJ Harrison's.

Fang-tacular Fluff
If you could sum up The Vampire's Mail Order Bride in three words, what would they be?
BalancedIntelligentFun
Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favorite?
I'm not sure which was my favorite... maybe Stanhill, but mostly because B.J. Harrison kept a much more consistent accent than the voice in my head did when I read the book myself.
I had not heard anything by this narrator before but I really enjoyed his voice. I will seek out other reads by him. I hope he reads the rest of the series :)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Wanted to - yes. Able to, no. Life kept getting in the way. I had already read the book and knew it was enjoyable but loved that I got swept away again with as much marvel and joy as I did when I read the book for the first time months ago.
Any additional comments?
I've dipped into the Nocturne Falls pool a few times and it is refreshing each time and each manner. I'm eager for the next story in audio, even though I've read it myself several times. It's great to be able to re-listen to a favorite when I'm doing repetitive but detailed actions at work. There isn't much demand on the reader in this series but there is great reward for those who care to visit the town where Halloween is every day.

This is an outstanding book, and the audio is even better! Perfect for just sitting at home, listening, or getting a workout and enjoying this fun read! The narrator is awesome, and just perfect for the story! I loved it and would listen again!
What did you like best about this story?
This story is great because it's got the right of amount of action to laughs. It's a fun read, and a quick one too. Very enjoyable to listen to while relaxing!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Amusing
If you could sum up The Vampire's Mail Order Bride in three words, what would they be?
Very amusing indeed
What other book might you compare The Vampire's Mail Order Bride to, and why?
Some of Katie Mcallister books same kind of humor and adventure.
What about B.J. Harrison’s performance did you like?
Good speed of reading, and good voices.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really, all good , all the normal ups and downs in an adventure.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book it kept my interest all the was through and I will be listening to the next one as soon as it comes out in audio.

Excellent
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this book! It was my first time reading anything by this author and I loved it. The characters were easy to love and the story as engaging! I didn't want to put it down! I will definitely be picking up the next in the series when it comes out! I love the idea of Nocturne Falls, it sounds like an awesome place to live! Loved the audiobook of the novel as well, I adored hearing Hugh's British nobility accent!

An Engaging Start To This Cozy Paranormal Romance
Kristen Painter is a new-to-me author but someone who I will definitely read more of. I loved her writing style, finding this book very easy to read. I enjoyed all the characters that Ms Painter created, the town of Nocturne Falls was inspired and I loved the plot and its twists and turns that we were taken on.
I downloaded the Audible version of this book and was impressed with B.J. Harrison's performance; the pace of his narration was just right and I enjoyed his vocal variances for the dialogue.
There is absolutely no offensive content within these pages - language, violence or sex - and so I can recommend it to lovers of charming, paranormal romance tales that enjoy a sprinkling of humour and a happily ever after ending of any age.

Satisfactory Read
I read a lot and feel this is nearly but not quite a Molly Harper book 'look-a like'. It may well be me, but, I couldn't feel the humour or the strength of passion in Kristen's writing.
I didn't expect erotica but I didn't feel romance and connection.
I will give a thumbs up to the narrator BJ Harrison good job well done.
Would I recommend this book?
Yes I would but say that it is more a Young Adults book but readable.
I did like the first chapter of the next book in the series which we heard at the end of Vampire Mail Order Bride. I may purchase that next one especially, if it is on special offer.

hmmm, where is the Passion?
I have many Audio books and although some of my Audible books are not Romance/Happy Ever After/Sexy and Passion filled,
I expected this book and series to have the passion and erotica..
I have to admit the story was nice with funny and sweet moments but there is no sex, passion or love making beyond a kiss followed by the next day!!!
This book would have probably received a four star rating if the author had written above a PG (Parental Guidance) rating!😟

Fun start to a new series
As a fan of Molly Harper and the world she created for magical characters, I found this story by Kristen Painter enjoyable and fun to listen to. Kristen has created her own world for her magical characters and we meet some of them in this book and I'm looking forward to seeing them appear in future stories. B J Harrison does a great job of narrating the story and really brings the characters to life.

I love a good supernatural cozy mystery.. got one!
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.
I think Delaney is a wonderful character and Hugh is charming and sweet. Their budding romance runs into a small problem when the mob boss that Delaney is on the run from tracks her down, however being surrounded by supernatural friends has it’s plus side.
This is a fun, well written, supernatural, cozy mystery. The first of the Nocturne Falls series.

In large parts horrible
This is a bubbly and humorous book that did show some promise early on. However a lot of the humor was not funny and the main female lead was cross and annoying at times, specially in the second half of the book.
A special note goes to the scene where she is comforting the male lead of his guilt over the loss of first wife and children. Paraphrasing it was of the lines of "you should not feel guilty, have you considered the death of your wife and children was your wife's fault?"
Shortly after the guy did in fact come to the same conclusion, what a relief! His previous losses were indeed because his first wife was a weakling and now he had a strong amazing replacement.
The second half there was one genuine laugh... when the woman mentions the situation was like a bad romance novel... that she did not want to read!
I have to get over my compulsion to finish books I do not enjoy... felt a bit like I imagine the religious practice to whip ones back with branches.

should have a trigger warning, miscarriage infant
I was enjoying the book up until chapter 25 when suddenly they are talking about miscarriage and still birth. It came from nowhere and I can not finish the book. I am so disappointed that I wasted my money on this. You can't just drop that into a book with no warning. It may not have negative effect on most but i find it painful to read about.

Light and silly
Looking for deep and meaningful plot? Look else where.
While the concept of this plot has the potential to be a complex and gritty epic of a story, this certainly is not. I'd say it's a sugar glazed version of a paranormal romance with orange and purple sprinkles. Thing is, I like copious amounts of sugar from time to time. 😋🧁🍨🍪
I was apprehensive about having a male narrator with a romance novel, this is my first, but only because my internal voice is as female as I am. He was extremely good and I'm definitely going to go looking for more things read by him regardless of genre.

Move Over Twilight
If you like the Vampire romance category and loved twilight you're likely going to love these books too, throw in a bit of werewolf, a crime family from NYC and a cosy little town and you have a great read.

Fascinating
This is a new take of vampire/werewolves/human and other supernatural stories. It's mesmerising, addictive and thrilling and witty that equaled to a great story. The narrative is excellent and pulls you and immersed you in the life of the characters and feels their emotions. Thank you Kristen and B. J for an amazing book. I would have want more realistic intimate scenes (we are all adult after all) xx
