After thousands of years, Cain awakens to find that the world has gone on without him. In his slumber, humans and people of power have stopped being afraid of, well, anything. Long before Jade was conceived, the Lich Lords meticulously constructed a prophecy that hails her as the key to laying claim to the promised land. Her whole life was orchestrated: every moment of training, every facet of her persona, and every moment of her time. And it worked. The Black Circle, and everyone involved, believes she is a prophet. A savior. A messiah. The problem is, she isn’t interested in the job. All she wants is to escape. Even with status, wealth, influence, and power, her reality conceals a darker truth: being blood cursed at birth.

Accession of the Stone Born Death doesn't always ride a pale horse.
Gavin Randall hasn’t been home in nearly thirty years. Upon his return, he steps into a world he never knew existed and awakens dormant powers to discover that he’s one of the rarest beings in the supernatural community - a Stone Born. Now his very existence is a threat to the established order.
A mysterious death pulls him in further, forcing him to face off against family and foe alike. Gavin must reconcile the past he knew with a strange world of magic, along the way encountering new creatures and dangers he’s never experienced.
Will Gavin discover the truth? Or will this new world swallow him whole?
Dust Walkers
When newly minted vigil Gavin Randall is summoned to a small town in New Mexico, the last thing he’s expecting is to have to fight a cartel of necromancers. Their undead horde tests the limits of his powers and shows him just how vulnerable he really is…and that’s not the worst of it. His enemies have spent centuries preparing for a war no one within the Archive has foreseen, and he has yet to learn to control his abilities or figure out his place in this ancient conflict. With time running out, will he be able to forge the alliances he needs to survive the coming storm?
Shades of Fire & Ash
After surviving an unholy horde in New Mexico, Gavin Randall didn’t think things could get much worse, but the world he walked into eleven months ago grows more dangerous with each passing day. A new threat has surfaced in the form of fanatics hellbent on destroying him, his friends, and the Archive itself. It’s his job to make sure that doesn’t happen, but these guys don’t play fair and have found a way to stack the odds in their favor. With the primordial fires of Muspelheim lapping at his heels, can he survive long enough to fulfill his destiny, or will the world be burned to ash?

An engaging story that leaves you wanting more!
Ken Lange expertly plunges the reader into a hidden world of magic, secret organizations, and people of incredible power!
Lange's writing is smooth and easy to follow. There were a few phrases that came off as odd, such as, "rolling his shoulders" instead of "shrugging", but by no means does it ever take away from the engaging conversations and exciting fight scenes depicted through out the story.
The narrators bring the characters to life with well thought out accents and inflections. Both Pond and Clewell are easy to listen to, allowing no hesitation for extended listening periods.
Overall, this was an excellent work that left me eager for more!

Surprisingly new and interesting
I went into this book pretty blind, having only barely skimmed a few lines of the summary. But I love urban fantasy and it looked interesting enough. I was impressed by the way the author took bits and pieces of many different mythologies and wove them together into something new and interesting. I especially enjoyed the Reaper portion of the storyline (and where we meet the 2nd Reaper in book 2!).There were several points in all 3 books where the mythology was explained so briefly I wasn't sure I followed it all, and I wish there had been more detail. The narrators weren't the best, but they weren't bad either, so performance gets only 3 stars. One quirk that irked me was the constant references to food and eating. The characters seemed to be eating for two-thirds of the book! There could have been more dialogue or character development, or even descriptions of the various settings instead and it would have made the plot more real.
Book 1 - Accession of the Stone Born was the best of the 3 and I would give the story 5 stars. The magical politics was actually interesting. This book felt more fleshed out since Gavin himself is discovering his new powers, the magical word, and his place in it.
Books 2 and 3 didn't feel like they were going any place important until near the end of Book 3. They weren't slow, they simply didn't seem to tie into one another. The pieces started coming together in the 2nd half of book 3 and we can see how random events might have been important. However, some details were too fast or glossed over to fully grasp. Thus, I'd give each of these books a 4 star rating.

Great collection.
The first two books in this trilogy we’re good, but I wasn’t as fond of the narrator. The last book has the same narrator as the warden global books, and I enjoyed it much more. My principle complaint is that Gavin goes from getting his butt kicked frequently to having way too much power. I still like the series, and enjoy that it is set mostly in New Orleans. Just bought the next book in the series so obviously I am hooked.

A different approach to paranormal
I liked the stories in this collection. A bit of a new spin on the genre. The narrators could use a bit more inflection in their own reading. especially the first but eventually you get used to it. It's nothing that distracts from the story but touches of emotion would enhance. I'll be checking out year 2.

Really good urban fiction
Lange writes an action-adventure junkie's pure shot that will either take you to higher places or kill you with awesomeness.
The characters are gritty and realistic, at least within the context of the story, and the twists and turns of the story are everything a mystery loving urban mystery fan could ever want. The book includes over the top choreographed fight scenes that have a generous sprinkling of the mystic and magical.
The narrators do a great job narrating the story giving the characters plenty of character while adding lots of context to the reading causing the action scenes to be more actiony and the suspense scenes to be more suspenseful.
All in all it's a great series that deserves your token.

3 amazing books for 1 credit!?
I love it when I come across an Indy book that really gets me excited and this REALLY did it for me!
So well written with complex characters, an amazing story full of mystery, intrigue, monsters, gods and magic and really well done fights. I loved every minute of it. The use of magic is handled so well and doesn’t fall into the ‘one super spell that wins every fight’ category; every fight is very hard fought!
As for narration, both narrators (yes, the 3rd book switches) are great! Paul sets a great precedent and Andrew heroically picks up the torch and does just as well. Both have really great, distinguishable character voices and pull of the intensity of the situations perfectly. The swap did take a short while to get used to, but doesn’t effect the overall quality or rating it deserves.
If you like these 3, you’ll LOVE Ken’s other books too! I’m just sad to have come to the end and can’t wait for more releases.
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.
