Publisher's Summary

Brand new from the best-selling author of The Village Shop for Lonely Hearts.

Scandal hit party girl Lucy Conway needs to leave London fast, so she packs her bags and escapes to the sleepy village of Cranbridge to take care of her beloved Uncle Frank.

But the country village isn’t quite as idyllic as she remembers. To make matters worse, her uncle’s pride and joy, The Cranbridge Times, is close to going out of business.

Editor-at-large Tom Addison is having a crisis of confidence and needs help if the newspaper is going to survive.

With time on her hands, can Lucy work some magic and together save the family newspaper?

Over a long, hot summer, friendships are made and hearts begin to heal. And, with the help of a stray dog, perhaps Lucy and Tom can find their very own new beginning....

Reminds me of Dibley

This book and this village are both so cute! I can tell that the author is a fan of The Vicar of Dibley, one of my favorite shows - there are a couple of nods to the show in this story. I recommend this series.

I Loved this Book

This is the second book of the series & it was just as good.
It was such an easy listen. Some might say it was predictable & cheesy. They didn't have to listen to it if they want something that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I wanted some escapism & that is just what I got.
I would definitely recommend it.

Too similar to the first

I bought a few of these as they were high rated. the first was nice but very slow burning, but this book is far too similar, it's basically the exact same story for 2 different mc's. Will probably return the 3rd

Narrator tried her best...

Unfortunately this isn't the worst chick lit book I've ever read/listened to but the writing really isn't great. Predictable and the author missed so many tricks - she could easily have tapped into the back stories of the two main characters to beef up the storyline but failed.
Sorry, but I can't recommend this title. I bought it because it was only £3 in the sale and ended up wasting a credit on another one in the series thinking the other was the first (it wasn't!). I've no wish to listen to any more of the 'exploits' of the other village residents when I can instead be listening to something with real substance.

Better than the last one

I've recently found this series and I have to say I did enjoy this one more than the first book.
The storyline is nice, predictable in parts, but easy to listen to.
Enjoyed the narration of the book to.

I loved this book

I loved this book and the series so far I hope there will be more.
it's like a nice warm hug and you really start to care about all the characters, from Tom and Lucy at the heart of this story to amber and Josh in the shop.
