Would you kill to protect your family?

Working on death row is far from Kristy Tucker's dream, but she is grateful for a job that allows her to support her son and ailing father.

When she meets Lance Dobson, Kristy begins to imagine a different kind of future. But after their wedding, she finds herself serving her own life sentence - one of abuse and constant terror.

But Kristy is a survivor, and as Lance's violence escalates, the inmates she's worked with have planted an idea she simply can't shake.

Now she must decide whether she'll risk everything to protect her family. Does she have what it takes to commit the perfect crime?

The Walls is a heart-stopping novel of suspense by the author of the international best-selling thriller Baby Doll.

So good

I couldn’t stop listening to this. I loved Hollie’s first book and tore through that in two train rides to work and back. This was just as amazing. I loved the actor who read it too.

Some Wails About "The Walls"

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Only the last 2 hours of this book was good. This was a very long book and I truly feel that the author could have deleted a good 3-4 hours from the very beginning of the book. The only reason why I continued to listen to this book was because it received such glowing reviews.

If you’ve listened to books by Hollie Overton before, how does this one compare?
This is my first Hollie Overton book.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?
I only liked the main character when she decided to kill her husband.

Did The Walls inspire you to do anything?
My husband sincerely hopes that I was not inspired by anything in this book!

Any additional comments?
The first half of this book was dull and repetitive. I felt like I wasted a good 3-4 hours of my time before the book got traction. For this reason, I can not recommend this book to anyone.

“Till we meet again”. And I’m crying.

Kristy Tucker works for the Texas Department of Corrections in Public Relations/Information and works with a lot of deathrow inmates.
She got pregnant while young, ended up as single mother and her career allowed her to take care of her family; ensure her son Ryan had everything he needed to have open doors in life.

After an altercation, she meets Lance Dobson; The man Ryan secretly trained martial arts with.
He charms his way into their lives - it’s a good ol’ romance story. They get married.

Only it wasn’t a romance; shortly after their wedding, Lance’s true nature as abusive, manipulative and violent control freak shows. He is holding Kristy hostage with his abuse while playing perfect world with everybody else.
Gradually, she becomes more and more desperate - she has to keep up a happy, loving front with everyone, for fear of putting her son and her dad in danger.
Everyone but Clifton Harris, a deathrow inmate who gradually evolves into a friend. He sees the signs that she isn’t okay and allows her to open up, sowing the seeds for her to finally find her way out of this mess.

The story had me on my toes and a rollercoaster of emotion most of the time. Except for sometime close toward the end when there are a couple of “really?” Moments - but they don’t really detract much from the story at all in the grand scheme of things.

Therese Plummer does an amazing job in her narration - and her dialogue, the portrayal of unfolding relations, emotions, mental states - are simply amazing in their nuance and expression. Despair, hate, pride, innocent happiness, love, abuse, fake happiness with a tinge of real struggle underneath - you get all that and more

Loved it!

I loved Baby Doll and this one did not disappoint. I have read my novels centered around domestic violence but this one was definitely unique. Fast pace and enjoyable.
