An amazing series.
as a Navy man I love the series. it brought me back to my youth and kept me on the edge of my seat. It's some points it was slow but for the most part it was great. the family that this is centered around made me at times bristle with pride. I can't say enough about how good this series was overall.

Very Deserving -As Good as Many Brand Name Authors
Well plotted, well told. This is a lengthy novel and not a trilogy. It is packaged as a trilogy, I suspect, because the book publishing world rejects lengthy novels by first-time authors. The plot is ambitious, but works very well. The characters are well drawn with a couple exceptions, Overall, this is worthy of the attention of thriller readers who like strategic context and real world complexity as found in Tom Clancy authored novels or the Mark Greaney versions, as well as some of Ben Coes's novels.

Only Believable Stories Get 5 *'s From Me...
The premise of the story is absolutely believable, with the caveat that a couple of the incidents could have been better developed. Having said that, I absolutely loved the trilogy and was impressed with the almost seamless segue from book to book. Other than my first comment above on 'incident development', my only "less than five stars" rating was for the narrator. In the end I have to give him a well earned "four star" rank (surprising myself after my first impression of this narrator). Expect to be frustrated at first listen with the narrator's continuous "rapid-drop inflections" at the end of virtually every sentence (sounding much like the less experienced small market news reporters who have not yet learned how to effectively utilize this powerful technique). I ALMOST, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, RETURNED AN AUDIBLE BOOK (the narrator was, at first, was that disruptive to the listening experience). However...I AM GLAD I DID NOT DO IT!!! Because other than this issue, the narrator is MORE than competent and (I think) gifted and consistent in his "character voice" changes. BOTTOM LINE: Now that you know this single flaw, try to work through and ignore it initially and you will be rewarded with an excellent story that is engrossing, entertaining and which, literally, made my heart pump with excitement over and over!!! Book Was Worth Price Paid.

Don't Give Up
I almost never write reviews, but another review really helped me on this one so I wanted to reaffirm what that reviewer said. I almost gave up on this book after the first two hours, but I went in and read reviews and one of the reviewers indicated that they almost returned it but kept going and loved it. Ditto! I will listen to the rest of the series.

More spy thriller than military - I gave up.
I don't give up on many books but I got thru the first book and part way thru the second and said to myself "this is 95% spy story and 5% military". Not my cup of tea and not all all as described.
If you want spy action, you may like this, if you want military action look elsewhere.

Ok thriller, with incorrect technical details
Would you try another book from Andrew Watts and/or Michael Pauley?
No
Would you be willing to try another book from Andrew Watts? Why or why not?
Maybe. I liked the general story. However, I like the author to have accurate descriptions of firearms and technical items. These authors don't adhere to these standards. For instance, in the very beginning, a Beretta 92 fired by itself when dropped (false). Shoulder holsters aren't that popular. Sig Sauer pistols don't have a safety, etc...These lapses made me question other aspects of the book when they were dealing with Aircraft carriers and helicopters.
Do you think The War Planners Series, Books 1-3 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No
Any additional comments?
Would have been much better had the authors used real descriptions of small arms and situations.

Really enjoyable
I really enjoyed these 3 books. The story had me guessing, and when we found out that Lisa was not who she presented herself early in the book, I had no idea where the story was going.
I enjoyed the spy element, with navy and chopper pilots thrown in. Kept me guessing and wondering till the end.

terrible narration!
I so wanted to enjoy these books but the previous reviews were correct. The narration is truly the worst of any audible book I have ever heard. I really cannot believe that the producers allowed it to be released.
The story is average and takes forever to get going and when it does it all ends in a damp squib. If ,like me,you were locking for another Tom Clancy you will be disappointed, this is not even in the same league. Save your money and buy something else. I wish I had!

Not quite everything you need to know for the third world war. The villains of the peace, literally, were a little too close to a James Bond bad guy. That said a good listen and in my opinion the series did have a solid conclusion, with a potential hook for a spin off or two.

A Good listen
I seldom write reviews but having listened to these three books I felt I should. I am a great fan of Red Storm Rising and these books are of a similar quality. The reader, Mr Paulette, is excellent and kept me wanting to hear more; unfortunately this sometimes meant I was still listening at 2 and 3 o’clock in the morning instead of sleeping.
I would recommend giving these books a try if you enjoy Tom Clancy.

Fits right into my preferred scenario ! Political intrigue + action + Dystopian ( almost ) + long !!! Absolutely gripped me and doubled my daily step count while 'reading' it!! Amazing ! I cannot understand the negative reviews !! It is up there with the best half a dozen books I have ever read and now looking forward to the next three books !!!! Average story for an average IQ
I love a good story, and this has the elements of a great story. But as it carries on, one notices the poorly crafted plot devices that just cut corners and simplifies scenes for convenient. It just lacks mental horsepower. The person who edited this series should have said ' Andy, people in Australia can't go into a porn shop and buy guns? Like everyone would know that'. or 'Andy a rip tide flows away from the beach not towards it', or even 'Andy, if you drop a modern pistol, especially one made for the military, it doesn't go off. I mean they drop them from helicopters to find out'. Anyway, the idea of a good story is to suspend belief, not cause critical thinking and suspicion that there will be further basic errors in store for the reader. Andy, I suggest you get 'real' military people to help you, ones who have been at the pointy end, especially if your wheelhouse is military techno thrillers.
