Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Publisher's Summary
In the final volume of The Hundredth Queen Series, Kalinda will risk everything to save the man she loves.
Kalinda has brought peace to the Tarachand Empire, at least for now. Bhutas no longer need to hide their gifts. The last of the rebels have been banished. And Prince Ashwin is set to take over as rajah.
But for Kalinda, this all came at a great loss. Her childhood home. Her best friend. The love of her life.
Deven is still trapped in the Void, although he is able to find his way to Kalinda each night. He has been lucky so far—mortals are not meant to last in the Void for long, and Deven has lasted longer than most. But when he doesn’t visit her one night, Kalinda knows that his luck has run out.
She will do whatever it takes to save the man she loves, even if it means convincing a god to guide her through the Void. Freeing a mortal from the Void is nearly impossible, but Kalinda has never let those odds stop her before…

Now that it’s done...
Overall, I would have preferred if there had only been one narrator throughout the entire series. It was off-putting to go from 1 (books 1&2) then to 2 (book 3) then 3 (book 4) different voices giving voice to the same characters.
Add to that, the story might have sounded less melodramatic in parts. The narrators reading for Kalinda and Devin in books 3 and 4...grating to my mind. Completely different narrator would’ve been preferred.
The entire series is ok. Not great. The premise of the first book was compelling...likely one is better of reading a physical book than doing the audio version...

disappointed
I have never written a bad review until now. if you are not committed to this series just save your credit. In the last book the author started to make Kalinda a brat. Now she's a full on @$$. this book has made me loathe the protagonist. I would have just stopped listening but I wanted to finish Ashwin's story. although I knew better I started wishing Kalinda would just die. it was hard to keep listening. don't even start if you can avoid it.

This was an excellent conclusion to Kali's story. There were so many secrets revealed and loose ends that were tied up, I loved it. I'm sad to see the end of this series, but I love how it concluded. The audio was fantastic and really enhanced the entire series. Bravo!

Why? The first book in the series was excellent, in totality. I had to skip past everything he narrated. I suffered his mutilation of names. However, what he did with Brocks voice was ridiculous. he sounded like a immature drunk.

I did not care for the voice of the prince in this book. the voice actor pronounced words and names differently from the other voice actors and it threw off everything for me. I absolutely loved this whole series. Emily R. King has created a brand new world that I've never seen the likes of before, and it is rich with culture and heritage and history. The characters have become my friends, and the landscapes have become my daydreams. Incredible writing, entrancing story, and perfect narration. She is a spoiled child
The previous books wrote her as a warrior nun that did what she had to do so that her family/friends could live in a world that was worth living. She fought so that others did not have to fight. She fought to make a better world. She fought to kill a demon and even lost her hand to kill the demon then lost her man for that very reason. But this story is of a selfish woman who wants to get her man that should be dead. She turns herself from the man that she should marry in the human world so that her kingdom can have a happy life with the rest of the nation. She forsakes the title she worked so hard to gain and then she goes to the underworld and treats the God who has allowed himself to help her like a pervert.
So as not to spoil anything else I will not tell anymore of this story but to say that she is cruel to those she should appreciate and to those she should bow her head to she treats like a jerk. A man who was a wonderful person who wonders everyday how he can make a better nation he treats like a jerk.

Performance gets in way of story
Several people have noted before that the two narrators in the preceding books pronounce names and places differently. This adds yet another narrator with different pronunciations. Add to that the fact that the third guy is TERRIBLE, and this last book became painful to listen to. I wanted to hear how the story finished, so I made myself, and became VERY aware of how a bad narrator with inappropriate inflections can ruin a story. It’s given me more appreciation for others! Ok story, but kind of meh. I totally identify with Kalinda as a character, but the narrator makes her sound super whiny which sucks. I did like the way the books were all tied up and I might actually read this one some day so I don’t have to listen to the bad narration lol

Great conclusion to Kalindas story. Well read by all 3 narrators and nice to have a voice for Ashwin. Kalindas journey to retrieve Deven is gripping and well written. Good descriptions to help you imagine the demons and monsters lurking in the void.

The problem when you are listening to a really good series is that, eventually, it has to end. I have really enjoyed this journey, although I found Prince Ashwin to be a complete fool. However, everything came right in the end.
