IM AM SEAL.... UGH!

I gave this book a try because who doesn't need a little warrior mind set.

I got one chapter in and quit. There was sooooo much self importance on the author's part. I get you were a Navy Seal. He was making it big before he decided that he should make a career change.

I just couldn't listen to one more minute, I tired. Really I did.

Good listen.

Good content. A little too much product promotion for me. I will use some of these tactics.

Great book, and performance by author

Better than the online content in my opinion. Great compliment to the other seal books like extreme ownership, and raising men. Pace at 1.15 was perfect for me and kept me engaged and interested.

don't bother

a huge amount of the material in this book is almost copied and pasted from his other books. very little was original. from the start of chapter quotes to trying to fit stories to his lessons, the whole book lacked sophistication and clarity. i came away after finishing the book with neither motivation nor clear where to go from here. about 30 tools and even more lessons were gone over, but apart from a few things, most are almost immediately relegated to being vague memory. I regret buying and listening to this book

Too Much Info to Retain

The book really needed to come with a PDF file with all the lists and tools, I'm returning the Audible and purchasing the softcover.

Excellent

While many of the principles herein are available in various places - Mark’s way of placing them in a realistic way for achievement was excellent.

I look forward to utilizing the training of this book to push beyond my current goals.

It’s a lot

There’s a lot of great advice in this book. I think this is one that I might want a hard copy of as well because the author uses lots of acronyms, processes, worksheets, etc. that you can’t really absorb through just the audio experience. I enjoyed the narration and felt like I got some key takeaways from every chapter.

Difinitive edition for me

I already own the previus editions of this book. What made me buy this one is that its read by the author himself. Even if the book turned out completly the same as the last version it would be still worth having just to hear Mark narrating his personal experience and thoughts. Luckily there is new content added as well so win win.

Doesn't Grab Me

I read a lot of military and leadership related titles. This book just doesn't hold my attention.

Disappointing

I can’t even get through the introduction. For me, the narrator’s reading voice was not inspiring enough to want to learn his message.

True Warrior

Amazing book, great take away points and lessons you can truly apply to your own life. What an inspiring writer - if everyone had the same determination as him, the world would be a very different place!

Recommened, Breath and Take Control.

In the genre of Extreme Ownership By Jocko Willink, Leif Babin & Make Your Bed by Admiral McRaven and Sea Stories. Mark Devine has expanded upon the Seal ethos and training technics.

I first imagined a team sitting in a circle in the lotus position and practising deep breathing prior to going in.

The Way of the Seal is more than that and I have started practising Mark's technics. Surprise, they work.

BUT, the most important lesson that I picked up was what "Hell" week is all about. An Officer has to operate effectively under extreme pressure and how they respond during intense situations is critical to the success of the mission. Mark spoke of being put under extreme stress and pressure by the training officer. Mark instead of breaking and failing drew in his inner self and made light of the situation and passed.

Both Admiral McRaven Jocko Willink, Leif Babin and Mark spoke of the freezing water experience where they all broke out in song. None discuss the real reason for this training. But Mark opens it up that this is designed to bring out the inner strength of the men ( evoked in all cases in a song).

I work under extreme pressure and stress. and where I would have exhibited venting. I now breathe and visualise a rose. I then state the mantra of an officer and respond in a calm thoughtful manner
This makes Way of The Seal a must-read book.

Please read and read the other books mentioned, become what you can be........
