Story
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

According to the establishment media, the intelligentsia, and our political chattering class, the greatest threat to American freedom lies in right-wing authoritarianism. We’ve heard that some 75 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump represent the rise of American fascism; that conservatives have allowed authoritarianism to bloom in their midst, creating a grave danger for the republic.

Story
Since the 1970s, and notwithstanding three recessions, the U.S. economy has soared. American capitalism has been a triumph, and it has spread throughout the world. At the same time, argues the former U.S. secretary of labor, Robert B. Reich, the effectiveness of democracy in America has declined. It has grown less responsive to the citizenry, and people are feeling more and more helpless as a result.

Publisher's Summary
The Lux Radio Theatre was one of radio's most popular series attracting Hollywood's top stars and boasting a lavish budget. The Lux Radio Theatre began in 1934 featuring dramas from Broadway, but there was not enough material to support the show. In an attempt to reverse the slipping ratings, the show was moved to Hollywood in 1936, where there was plenty of material and talent. In fact, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille often served as the host.

So Refreshing!
What a treat to hear that voice again. Obviously, this is a abbreviated version of the movie, not the book, but it is so good. It is refreshing to hear the old radio shows with it the politics, the ranting, or cursing. And greatest live entertainer, Judy Garland, puts her whole self into it. the supporting cast, you can tell are having a blast also. So good, okay this for your children and let them use their imagination for a change.

Didn't grab me
I appreciate the story and the wonderful acting of Judy Garland. The other actors just didn't hold my attention as much. This was recorded when Judy was already a mother, probably in her mid-twenties. She still sounds as young as ever!
