When Clytemnestra marries Agamemnon, she ignores the insidious whispers about his family line, the House of Atreus. But when, on the eve of the Trojan War, Agamemnon betrays Clytemnestra in the most unimaginable way, she must confront the curse that has long ravaged their family. Story
The only daughter of the kingdom of Kekaya, she is raised on tales of the gods: how they churned the vast ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality, how they vanquish evil and ensure the land of Bharat prospers, and how they offer powerful boons to the devout and the wise. Yet she watches as her father unceremoniously banishes her mother, listens as her own worth is reduced to how great a marriage alliance she can secure. Desperate for some measure of independence, she turns to the texts she once read with her mother and discovers a magic that is hers alone.

The Four Realms—Life, Death, Light, and Darkness—all converge on the city of dusk. But the gods have withdrawn their favor from the once thriving and vibrant metropolis. And without it, all the realms are dying. Unwilling to stand by and watch the destruction, the four heirs to divine power—Angelica, an elementalist with her eyes set on the throne; Risha, a necromancer fighting to keep the peace; Nikolas, a soldier who struggles to see the light; and Taesia, a shadow-wielding rogue with a reckless heart—will become reluctant allies in the quest to save their city.

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results. But like science, life is unpredictable.

Brutally honest
I really enjoyed this book. I found the relationships between the women to be the most interesting part, but overall, I thought that there were a few unnecessary storylines/events. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys series like ACOTAR or FBAA but needs a dose of reality.

New favorite
This book is really a hidden gem and I am so glad I made my way to it. From the narrator to the last sentence in this book it was perfection. Beautifully narrated. The anticipation I now feel for the next book is BIG. This was a story that felt so smooth from start to finish and kept me enthralled. I wanted these women to be real and to be in my life. I wanted to know the “master” and see his face. I wanted to see their rooms. Walk where they walked. I was angry for them and also happy, I wanted to travel back in time. I felt sadness from this book and equal amounts of love. The grittiness sucked me in and the beautiful and aching story had me done with this book overnight. I’m also know pinning to go to Greece. Elodie you are a fantastic author. Antonia…you voice 😍.
