Publisher's Summary

From the Amazon charts best-selling author of The Silent Wife and The Woman I Was Before, The Woman in My Home is a gripping listen about family secrets and lies.

Finally, Cath has met someone: a man she loves, Robin, and who adores her in return. And after years of managing fine on her own, running a successful business, raising her son and caring for her elderly mother, she feels she deserves some happiness.

She expected everyone to be delighted for her. But her friends and family are suspicious of Robin. And Rebecca, a desperate single mother whom Cath has hired as a live-in housekeeper, doesn’t trust him either. He’s too slick, he’s too perfect and it all happened too fast. How well does Cath really know him?

Cath is used to taking care of herself; she’s nobody’s fool. But when things start to go wrong in the house that’s been her haven for all these years, she’s forced to ask herself whether the man she loves is really what he seems…and having let Rebecca in to every part of her life, is Cath ready to face the secrets she might find there?

Intelligent and relevant

I thought this was a well structured intelligent piece of writing that flowed and I found myself often agreeing out loud as though my opinion here mattered 😅 I’m going to look for more work by this author, well narrated was another plus, would recommend.

In spite of a Stubbornly Stupid Woman!

I enjoyed the book even tho one of the two main characters seems willfully dumb! I must've screamed "You are so stupid!" a thousand times. Rationalization and denial R her! It speaks to the power of the con -- getting people to believe what they need to believe. The performance was great & the characters well flushed out. I got it on the sale, but would've been okay if I'd used a credit.

Very Good!

The story was a little frustrating, like what is wrong with this woman, why can't she see through this guy. The narrator was excellent and overall a very satisfying listen. Some good humor along the way, loved the line that went something like "I don't need a man I have a lovable dog, at least I can pick up his shit and bin it", Great line I hope I don't forget. I'm looking for another Kerry Fisher to listen to. I'm happy to see the narrator is the same.

Intense! Audictive! Suspenseful!

A wild ride to be sure. My third audiobook penned by the extremely talented Kerry Fisher. She is joined by again by narrator extraordinaire Emma Spurgin-Hussey, who goes above and beyond with her precise character presentations. This is a story of a loving family, interrupted by mysterious newcomers. which brings forward trust issues, lies and exquisitely devious subplots. Throughout, we are treated to jaw-dropping secrets revealed. A well-deserved and compelling ending made it all the better! Recommended? Indeed! I plan on searching for more by these perfectly paired women.

Another Great Book by Kerry Fisher

I am always excited to listen to anything Kerry Fisher writes. I have enjoyed everything I have listened to by her. I also have to add that she has an amazing narrator that makes the books even more entertaining. This one is about how love can make us foolish and gullible and how easily we can be manipulated by someone with bad intentions, even if we think we are to smart for that to happen to us.

Topic

It was refreshing to listen to a book that featured more mature characters. They are hard to find. This book was excellent. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

Avid Listener

Loved it. Characters well developed and well written. Kept my interest. Disappointed when it ended. I can only write this for about 10% of the books I listen to.

A bit predictable

I got tired of this book and skipped a number of chapters. Characters sounded a bit wet by the narration and very predictable story line.

I do not understand the reviews!!

I've been listening to this now for over 5 hours and quite literally all that's happened is a women has done some cleaning in a house. I can't comment on the ending because I'm giving up with this book now, so alas, will never know. I'm assuming the ending must be great to justify all of the rave reviews, but I feel like a book needs to be good all of the way through, not just have a twist at the end. In addition, I've no clue who is who! as all of the characters sound exactly the same, so it's really hard to follow who is saying what in a back-and-forth conversation.

A read you won’t regret

Without introducing any spoilers I can confidently say that, having read hundreds of books, this a keeper. It is a well-paced and excellently narrated story. The characters are strong and it is equally easy to develop strong empathy for them as well as antipathy for another.

Absorbing story with interesting themes

This is a wonderful read for all ages as KF is expert at developing an interesting plot with a range of family dynamics and different perspectives. She creates characters with foibles who are very relatable.

I loved the down to earth approach and how you are drawn in to the injustice suffered by the main character. A good all round story.

Gripping

My first experience of this author, but do not think it will be my last. The way Fisher builds the characters within The Woman in My Home was wonderful. The way she demonstrates the subtleties that can exist in abusive relationships touched me. The story moved me with the power of strong women!
