When young Ben Carter is found murdered in an alleyway one snowy night in Mydworth, all the evidence points to his best pal, Oliver. With just days left before Oliver is to hang for the crime, they investigate. With the clock ticking can they find the real culprit in time... to save a life?

Fun Cozy Mystery with Wonderful Narration

I listen to a lot of audiobooks especially mystery series and Nathaniel Parker is one of the best narrators in the business (he also does all the Artemis Fowl books)
And I always enjoy any Mathew Costello and Neil Richards’ cozy mystery series. The main characters are always likable and charming, And stories are always fun with twists and turns but never end way too off base as some mysteries can.
I highly suggest this series and their other books

Not my favorite cozy series

I must admit I love the Cherringham series by this same duo (Costello and Richards) but
this series is lukewarm. It attempts to follow the same formula as Cherringham but it doesn't
work here. The American wife just annoys me. I keep getting distracted while listening thus I
must go back and listen again if I want to follow the story.

Good read!

husband-and-wife-team, cosy-mystery, law-enforcement, historical-fiction, historical-research, murder, murder-investigation, small-town, 1929, secrets, obstructive, suspense, false-information, falsely accused*****

Whether you've kept up with this series, haven't read one in over a year, or never read one at all, I guarantee that you'll be as caught up in this one as I was! It begins with the murder, the hops into the days immediately prior to the convicted man awaiting the hangman and the husband/wife team being asked to do their best (even at this late date) to get a stay of execution and (hopefully) prove the man's innocence. From then on, it's a wild ride of an investigation that gets faster and faster until the end. Great read!
Nathaniel Parker brings the characters alive and adds to the suspense!

Wonderful series

I love this series. The characters are believable and I love the relationship between Kat and her husband Sir Harry. The plot has plenty of romance, suspense and intrigue. Perfect narration by Nathaniel Parker.
