Publisher's Summary

Jason is a cynical rich playboy. He doesn’t take life seriously. He doesn’t believe in settling down.

Eileen’s 27th birthday is almost here. But as always, she’s an afterthought in her parents' minds. Her family is too busy planning a shotgun wedding for her older sister to pay attention to her. And now, she has to help.

It’s just another year where she’s overlooked. But the best man is smoking hot. He actually notices her and makes her feel special.

Jason doesn’t believe in commitment, but Eileen intrigues him. She’s not the kind of girl he usually hooks up with. She doesn’t even fall for his charm.

He’s made it his mission to convince her that he’s not the shallow man she thinks he is. But can Jason give up his playboy lifestyle to become the man Eileen needs?

Slump cure

This was a great love story. I truly enjoyed how it wasn’t traditional as most are. There was no breaking up for a random reason and then realizing their mistake. Highly recommend!

Jason Clarke- SWOON!

I just love the tone of his voice. Sigh. Ok, on to the actual story....I really liked Jason and Eileen and I understood how their past hurts made them believe they didn't deserve HEA. I enjoyed them learning each other and the friendship they established. What I didn't care for was Eileen's family. Let's face it, her family were all a bunch of douches!! OMG, I just cannot!!! How could she want the best for someone who was BEYOND awful??!! Like awful ALL the time!! It was hard to listen to Eileen's miserable sister and mother without wanting her to just let them fall on their faces, so to speak. How rude the mom was to Jason at the bridal salon...the hell? They were both ungrateful and selfish and it was really unbelievable that someone would work so hard to please people who are that undeserving! For me, it took away from the story that they treated her so poorly for the entire book, with only a weak apology from the sister towards the end and nothing was ever said from the mom. WTF??? I would've liked to hear how Eileen's relationship with her family was after the wedding, since it was a huge part of the story throughout the book. In any case, Jason turned out to be an amazing guy who loved her dearly and she loved him, so at least they had each other.

DNF -- nothing but fluff

Four hours in, I gave up on this book. Nothing of interest has happened and the story is just silly. The characters aren't interesting at all to me. The male narrator is good, but I don't love the female narrator. I've listened to books narrated by her before, and I didn't have an issue with her voice. I think if the story had been better, her voice would have been okay. In summary, I'm asking for my credit back. This was my first book by this author, and it will be my last.

Character irritates

Eileen's family is horrible but Eileen irritates me the most. She is ridiculous and while I get that in the end she'll come to her senses... it will NOT be to my satisfaction..
Update: I was right... the so called "tell off" was lame.

Slow burn

Definitely moved a little too slowly. The h was a doormat until suddenly she completely changed her personality. Mediocre read.

Incredible

I loved this listen and the narrators did a great job with these characters. Their emotions and exhaustion in dealing with Charlie were perfect. The story itself felt like a John Hughes story about the sister who is always helping out her bratty older sister. I loved how these two had a relationship which developed from planning a wedding for the bratty sister.

I will definitely listen to this one again when I need a pick me up.

Entertaining story and narration. I enjoyed it.

Eileen had a bad self image because of how her family treated her. She was so patient but caved a lot to keep the peace. I loved it when she would put her foot down and her family took notice. Jason was not one for commitment, and he could not explain his feelings when it came to Eileen. He wanted more for her and was proud of her when she stood up to her family. The journey had its ups and downs, and a rewarding ending. I enjoyed this story and the narration by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder. Jason and Emma did a great job in voicing these characters and all those around them.

I was given a copy of this audiobook, and this is my unsolicited review.

Such a sweet and emotional story

Narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder, Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa, was a sweet story with all the feels. They truly brought Jason and Eileen to life for me. They were two characters who were a bit broken and lost. They end up having to put together a wedding for her older sister and his cousin. Even though her family continuously forgets about her or use her for their own gain, she is there to help them. Jason was hurt by a woman he thought was the one and left him sour against relationships.

Jason and Eileen had amazing chemistry. But Jason was not interested in a relationship after the heartbreak he suffered. But something about Eileen pulls at him. Even with all Eileen suffered from her family, she was caring and strong. They were absolutely amazing together. I truly enjoyed listening to Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa. It was a fun and sweet and a bit emotional and I loved the characters and their journey so much.

Happy listening!

Jason and Eileen!

Jason is wealthy, successful and appears to have it all however he has been burnt by love in the past so now he prefers to keep his heart guarded. Not only does he find himself helping to arrange his cousins wedding, but he has to help pay for it as well. The only bright spot is the time he gets to spend with the bride’s sister Eileen.

Eileen is used to always being an afterthought in her family compared to her sister but that doesn’t make it any easier. She has now been coerced by her family to help with the arrangements and the finances as once again she has to be the responsible one.

Jason and Eileen become friends as they work together to ensure that the wedding proceeds without a hitch which is no easy feat with all the chaos that surrounds them. Their friendship develops into something much deeper but is it because of the wedding or the start of something much more?

Fun and flirty I really enjoyed Jason and Eileen together. They are both so supportive of everyone in their lives it was great to see them get the happiness they deserve. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought out all the mixed feelings they were experiencing and the tangible connection between them.

Come on Eileen

Eileen's family suck! They never put her first, or even second, they expect Eileen to fix everything and she lives in the shadow of her sister Charlie who is a total mess and is never expected to deal with the chaos and hurt she causes.

Jason used to believe in love but he was left broken when the love of his life left him standing at the alter on his wedding day. After being jilted he has become a cynic who has vowed never to risk his heart again. No settling down, only random hookups from now on. He's a nice guy underneath it all, he loves his family but doesn't want to risk his heart again.

When Charlie announces that she's pregnant by Jason's cousin Marek and that they will be getting married in less than a month, on Eileen's birthday no less, it's left to Eileen and Jason to plan and pay for everything demanded by Bridezilla Charlie. Charlie has unrealistic demands but through all the madness thrown at them by Charlie as well as Eileen's family, they discover they have a lot in common. They quickly become friends but could there be something more for them than friendship? Then they cross the line and go where neither feels they should.....

Is there a way for them to work things out? Can they have it all? Will Eileen finally stand up for herself against the family from hell? Will Jason risk his heart again?

The narration of this book by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder is excellent, they performed this book so well and gave life to all the characters.
