The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Publisher's Summary
A perfect murder...a faceless witness...a lone courtroom champion knows the whole truth....and he’s only 13 years old.

Fantastic for young audience, Good for adults
Grisham does a great job of taking his great law drama style and putting it on the level of a young adult (ages 8-16 IMO). In an unobtrusive way, he explains any of the technical aspects of law that are critical to the plot. He goes "out on a limb" and creates a character that has a good relationship with his parents without the parents kowtowing to the child.
Adults will enjoy the story as well. The plot is not as filled with twists and turns as his normal, but that is to be expected with the target audience. I did finish the book feeling like he had intended to write three more chapters, but cut it for some reason.
Nevertheless, it was a good read (listen). I hope this isn't his last for this audience. I'm looking forward to my kids having more of these.

If you need a cute story...
Well, this is definitely a 'kids' book, but a very good listen even for a mature person. I am an avid Grisham listener and this book proved a nice break. Being a grandfatther, I will be reading this book to my grandsons. The story provides a good sense of strive for what you want, be honest, think things through, help others, and most of all an education of the justicial system, abeit from a simpler approach, but very well put. Recommended for young readers.

Grisham With a Good Ending! Honest!!!
Grisham has gotten at least one foot off his liberal soapbox, swallowed some of his cynicism, and written a thoughtful and perceptive "feel good" story. The author has crawled inside the mind of Theo Boone, a generous and very precocious thirteen year old in love with the law and passionate about helping people. He just did not expect to be involved in catching a murderer. Theodore Boone will steal your heart whether you are thirteen or thirty-nine! When I need to relax, I re-listen to several chapters. Write a sequel, John.

Enjoyable for adults and children
If you could sum up Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer in three words, what would they be?
Family Fun
What was one of the most memorable moments of Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer?
When Theodore struggled with fighting in school. He is not a fighter but struggled with the concept of sticking up for right vs wrong. A very real everyday struggle for children and adults.
Which character – as performed by Richard Thomas – was your favorite?
The uncle
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Its a book that my daugther and I listen to together.
Any additional comments?
This is a book that can be listened to as a family. The tv is off or in the car the radio is off. Conversation regarding characters and situations in the book follow.

Great young adult story...like a legal Hardy Boys
If you could sum up Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer in three words, what would they be?
well-written, age-appropriate, interesting
Who was your favorite character and why?
Theo as the kid lawyer is a model of a smart kid who does kindness wherever he can, but also respects his parents and authority. Grisham explains a lot of legal procedure and jargon to young adults through the story line. He deals with issues of illegal immigration, parental divorce and child custody battles and criminal defense. He makes it cool to be a smart kid.
Which character – as performed by Richard Thomas – was your favorite?
Thomas did a fine job reading the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I listen during a commute. This is one I will recommend to my granddaughter. I like to read books first to make sure she doesn't read something I don't approve of.
Any additional comments?
Huge kudos to Grisham for this kind of book. It is a clean story line that deals with serious issues, but in a way that educates young adults about the legal system. It's not gory when dealing with the murder. It is educational for kids whose parents may be getting divorced to know a little about what the custody procedure is, and it also touched on issues of illegal immigration. I felt it was written for a young adult audience, but it was well-written enough for me to enjoy it, too.

Theordore Boone: Kid Lawyer
Richard Thomas did a great job reading this story. I have not cared to much for some of John Grisham's most recent books but this one was great. I noted it was for children but adults will enjoy it. Other than the hero being a 12 year old the story is much more an adult story than what I think of as a child's book. Could not stop listening.

Well done!
Would you consider the audio edition of Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer to be better than the print version?
I did not read the print version. But the book was enjoyable and reminded me of my fantasies early in my career.
What did you like best about this story?
I could relate to the fantasies of being a lawyer. The glory, the victory the self promotion...all of which was enjoyable.
Which scene was your favorite?
I read the series and that would be hard to say, but the realization that he was already a lawyer in his mind.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Can't remember.
Any additional comments?
A great book for children in the civics class of a junior high school. Very action orientated.

Great Lawyer Fiction Fit for Teens!
Where does Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Of the four books I've listened to so far, Theodore Boone comes in 2nd.
What did you like best about this story?
This book was obviously written for YA audiences, and because I am a teacher, I am always looking for new literature for young readers. This story was easy to listen to and not get lost, yet not get bored either. There was plenty of information about lawyers, but the listener does not get bogged down in the details. I also liked how Patterson was able to put Theodore into a "case" believably, even though he is an eighth grader.
Which character – as performed by Richard Thomas – was your favorite?
I enjoyed listening to Richard Thomas perform the voice of Judge Gentry. He did a great job changing his voice, making it sound deeper and gruffer, yet still gentle enough to fit the personality of the judge.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was. I couldn't quite manage it time-wise, but I kept turning audible back on so that I could continue the story whenever possible.
