Publisher's Summary

In this thrilling conclusion to These Hollow Vows—the sexy, action-packed fantasy by New York Times best-selling author Lexi Ryan that started it all—Brie finds herself caught between two princes and two destinies while the future of the fae realm hangs in the balance.

After Abriella's sister was sold to the fae, she thought life couldn't get any worse. But when she suddenly finds herself caught in a web of lies of her own making - loving two princes and trusting neither—things are not quite as clear as she once thought.

As civil war wages in the Court of Darkness, Brie finds herself unable to choose a side. How can she know where she stands when she doesn't even know herself anymore? In this darkly romantic thrill ride, the more Faerie is torn apart from the inside, the clearer it becomes that prophecies don't lie and that Brie has a role to play in the fate of this magical realm—whether she likes it or not.

An Epic Conclusion to an Epic Story

This was a really satisfying ending to a great story. I was pleased with the outcome of so much in this book, not only the love triangle but also the court intrigue and the whole "whose gonna rule" question. The additional characters were great additions as well. Misha was a hilarious new face and I really enjoyed his friendship with Brie throughout the book.

This final installment really made the book feel much more high fantasy than the first book. Mind you, the main plots are still heavily influenced by the romance but there's a lot more going on than just that such as political intrigue, underworld shananagins, seers with prophecies and past ghostly rulers.

The love triangle felt very reminiscent of A Court of Mist and Fury during some moments except that Brie is a much more forgiving person who genuinely loves deeply. She really struggled especially at the beginning with her emotions and it did make the triangle feel more human-like. Her choices were not made easily and the author never gave either love interest some dastardly deed that made them end up being the bad guy. I really appreciated how both of the guys were trying to be the best version of themselves after the follies of book one.

Tropes!
✅ One horse
✅ Shadow selves 😉
✅ Jealousy moments
✅ One bed

My biggest annoyance with this book was how the queen was dealt with. I was kinda hoping for a more badass moment and it was all very foreshadowed so it didn't feel as high stakes as I had hoped it would. Also, I really wanted to know what happened to Brie's mom. Not just the bare facts but her story once she disappeared. I felt cheated on that front a bit 💀 Also, what the heck did Finn's dad say to him when they almost drowned?!

I loved this duet!

Story: 4.5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed this duo! I think Lexi did an amazing job with her first dive into YA fantasy and I really hope she does more in the future! I once again wish it was adult 😂 but it was still amazing! I love how she wrote this love triangle.

I will say that I could tell in parts that this was written by a romance author. Only in the sense that some of the fantasy elements really needed to be fleshed out and explored. I think this could have easily been a trilogy if things had been fleshed out properly. I still had a great time and would definitely reread!

🚨🚨SOME SPOILERS AHEAD🚨🚨

I also love that she didn’t really have to make one of the love interests a villain in order to close the triangle. It was a fair fight that ended without me hating one of the guys. It was clear they both loved her, made mistakes, but took accountability and grew from those mistakes

Also I was a bit bummed about how easy it was for her to fix all the problems in the book. Things would seem impossible but then they would just be solved with little to no effort. Also, it was very clear that Brie needed more training and it was even pointed out to her however she never really received that training. For example, Finn told her she was drawing too much magic and needed to use less but then she was never taught how to do that and things just ended up working out. Or like she never learned to use or trust her shadow self but then used her shadow self to solve all their issues like it took no effort. It was hard to believe at some points.

These Twisted Bonds

“None of us asks for the burdens we bear, but that doesn't make the way we handle them any less significant.”

Book Review:
I enjoyed this book more than the first one. The world, story, and characters develop so much. There’s more at stake and powers wielded. Everything turns out to be so much bigger and complicated, which I love! It ends with a bang too…so much happens in the last 1/3 of the book. Definitely give this duology a go if you love Fantasy.

Yes. Just yes.

What a beating conclusion to this story. Well worth the read. It definitely kept me guessing and was not even remotely predictable.

Okay okay

I really loved this book. I loved the ending. And the twists, the turns. I think Lexi does a great job of showing the love. I have trust issues so I always will have an eye on every love interest, that’s my own issue though. but I’m glad it turned out the way it did

A journey

This tale defiantly takes you on a Journey and keeps you guessing to the end. The only part I didn’t love was how quick the finale was 😅

Magical Experience

This second book was better than the first, in my opinion. There was more plot and twists and turns than the first and we learned more about our characters than in the first book. Just like the first book though, it reminds me a lot of Sara J Maas’ ACOTAR series. It also seemed to be conveniently wrapped up. Overall, a good story that was magical and whimsical.
