Publisher's Summary

I wasn’t supposed to be at Olympus that night.

And I definitely wasn’t supposed to witness a murder - or be caught by the killers.

Hades, Apollo, and Ares run the mysterious masked fight club, and they wield more power in this town than I could dream of holding. They destroy my life with one decree: Kora Sinclair doesn’t exist.

Sterling Falls was my chance to start over, but one night derails everything. My scholarship, my job - gone.

I could run home, but giving up my dreams isn’t an option. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

When I can’t repay my debt to an unforgiving man, he gives me a choice. I can steal Hades’ mask, or he can take what I owe from my flesh.

But if I do this, there’s no turning back. More than the fear of his threats, revenge drives my decision. I need to steal the mask. After all, who better to become a thief than the girl they tried to erase?

Thief is a full-length mature college/new-adult romance with dark themes. This is a reverse-harem #whychoose novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book one of four in the series.

A must read/listen

First let’s start off that this is a new Reverse Harem from one of my absolute favorite authors. I did have a chance to Beta read this book and squeezed at the opportunity. I have also since read the final complete version too and it only got better the second time around.

There is a lot of mystery to Sterling Falls. We were first introduced to Olympus in Thrill (a free novella you can get through the authors newsletter sign up). Its this masquerade fight night where everyone gets to hide who they are, or really be who they are truly behind a mask. Its is ran by three “gods”; Hades, Ares & Apollo. So there is a clear “Greek” historical influence in some of the names as well as structures. What I appreciate the most though is S Massery actually gives parts throughout the book explaining them, which if you don’t have that vast knowledge you will enjoy the little learning sprinkles.

Kora has a night at Olympus not go as planned which sets in motion the rest of the book and her future. She quickly learns the dirty of Sterling Falls. She is a fighter though. She doesn’t easily give up and walk away. She’s constantly faced with impossible situations and seeing her character come out and how she adapts is fantastic.

The guys…. I have a clear favorite, but I’ll save that for later in the series. They all are so unique, but work so well together. You have your clear business minded guy who shows moments of kindness and weakness but doesn’t give in easily. You have your major softy in all aspects, he just has the best heart and intentions. Then you have your ravenous, possessive and passionate guy that will fight hard for you.

This is just the first book in this series of 4 total books. It does end on quite the cliffhanger, or multiple. It will have you desperately craving what comes next.

UNIQUE • FRESH • RIVETING • EPIC

I loved S. Massery’s world-building in this spectacularly gripping listen and the duet-style various POV narration by Addison and Tyler made each well-colored gripping scene come alive. I loved the suspense that ran through every single chapter as villains stepped in and out of the action and caused chaos, mischief and threatened death and destruction. I loved the slow-burn between all the carefully honed characters and I REALLY loved the sexual tension, chemistry and sexual possibilities that heated, flared and oozed with each fiery encounter between Kora and her three men. I loved the mystery, drama and continual twists that hit hard in this masterfully written book. In fact, I eagerly went straight into Book 2 at 1 something a.m. (I didn’t dare look at the clock 🤭🤫) after the CLIFFHANGER of this one!! But, this is a four book deal and the next must-have book has revelations and exciting drama and a BRUTAL cliffhanger too.. I mean I wanted to throw something at the wall 🤯😩😢. And now I’m waiting on the edge of my seat absolutely d e s p e r a t e for the next shocking instalment from this riveting world.. as war comes to the streets and gangs of Stirling Falls.

Worth a credit? Definitely. It’s a 4 credit deal really.. and, if you’re tempted now, then yes just go ahead and get them all - you won’t regret it.

A Whole New Level

Well, S Massery has left me dumbfounded. She took reverse harem to a whole new level with this book. I have come to expect intense stories with lots of action, suspense, and some steam. But I could not have imagined this. Kora, Jase, Wolfe, and Apollo are all intriguing characters.

I enjoyed the audio version of this book. The narrators did a great job voicing these characters. I will note, I am not sure if this was due to my device or the production of the audiobook, but in the chapters from Kora's POV whenever the male narrator took over to voice one of the guys it got really quiet, almost impossible to hear.

Fair warning this book does have a cliffhanger ending. While I usually get frustrated with cliffhangers, I am pleasantly content with this one. I will happily sit here anxiously awaiting book 2.

Interesting

I’m not quite sure how to feel about the book yet. I am not jumping to start book two as I need a little break from the narrators. I’ll get to that in a bit.

First the story. As a whole, the characters are all well defined and well written, even though the main female character, Kora, really annoys me. I’m not sure if it is the narrator’s take on her that has me annoyed or her character. I know she has to go through growth and she starts weak, which is not surprising, given her history, but she is a fighter. But the way she comes through on audio just sounds so weak and pretentious at times. So much so that it is not very clear why the guys are drawn to her, other than that she’s beautiful. I wish the author would have given us a bit more interaction/reasoning before what felt like sudden attractions and getting physical.

That said, the story is a good one, some stuff doesn't make sense as far as any sane person wouldn't make the choices presented in the book, but hey, it's a fiction, and we need those bad choices to give us a story! The story development is an interesting one and the author is a good writer. It does keep you interested and wanting to know more.

The guys are pretty distinct so far but we only have a little bit of who they are right now. There are 4 books to get to know everyone better. I am looking forward to getting to know all the main characters more.

This is my first RH book and I love that there’s no gratuitous bad language or sex. Don’t get me wrong, there are steamy sex scenes, but the main focus is on the story, which is awesome. I tried another RH book that I had to return after 3 chapters. All they can talk about are how their sex organs are reacting to each other. This book, the story is the main focus and the relationships makes sense as part of the story.

The narration. I might be in the minority because the female narrator’s take on Kora just annoys me. The wobbly voice in the first half of the book and her take on the fear or more intense scenes. Her voice was flat for those. She doesn’t have a lot of distinct female voices but at least I can tell them apart enough. And yes, I know the wobbly voice conveys Kora’s nerves and lack of self confidence but it just was hard for me to listen to. And the narrator makes everything flat when in adrenaline pumping situations....

The male narrator’s voice is very sexy, BUT! I had a really hard time telling the difference between the 3 main guys a lot of the times! Especially when they’re all talking together! Then there’s the production issue, a lot of times, I had to rewind and turn the volume way up to hear what the guys are saying!

Overall, narration is just a 2.5 for me.

The book ends on a cliff hanger and normally, I would jump straight into the second book but I just can’t. I need a break from her voice and the. I can get into the second book. Upside is I won’t have to wait that long for the 3rd and 4th since I’ll likely need a break from each given they’re likely all the same female narrator.

They stole my heart

Oh man, I loved this book but I loved listening to it even more. Both Addison Barnes and Tyler Darby brought so much depth to this book. Be prepared for them to suck you into the story of the Thief. They had me captivated by how they brought all the characters to life. It was done in dual narration and I absolutely love that. I like it when the guy reads all the guys' parts and the female reads all the female parts.

Be prepared to be taken to Sterling Falls where you don't know if you are on the right or wrong side of the city and its inhabitants. Kora is strong and just wants to start her life over. She didn't expect to run into 3 Gods of Olympus who turn her world upside down. Get ready for a wild ride in this new RH series by S. Massery. This is the first RH that I have read that I absolutely love. There is more than just the hot steamy scenes, but there is action, mystery, and great chemistry between Kora and Hades, Apollo and Ares!!!!

Great Duet Narration on top of a great story

I really enjoyed the narration it is duet which means both the male and female narrator speak they're parked throughout kind of making it like an audio play. Which I love I think that's the best type of narration. And i loved getting to listen to this book in that way. On top of that it seems that the audio book is released the same day as the book itself so you dont have to wait whixh is really cool for audiofans.

Thief is one of those books that just take you by surprise & completely blows you away. It is definitely an extra star read. It's a dark reverse harem that has a fantastic storyline, great characters, & perfect pacing. It's not bully, it's not instalove, yet its dark & just right.

The writing is incredible. The author really brought the characters to life. The FMC is extremely likeable & in a tough situation. It's written in a way that her actions make a lot of sense, you're rooting for her & she's got great chemistry with the guys.

The guys are their own unique characters that are very distinguishable. Which is huge in rh in general. I felt like they were all needed & they all have their own dynamic with the FMC & with each other and as a group. They move at their own pace with the FMC & have really interesting back stories some of which were just scratching the surface on, so excited to get more on those. You know it's a good book when you come out with new book boyfriends.

I would not call this enemies-to-lovers I would say that there's some enemies to Lover's themes initially. I really love that we get a dark rh with a really great plot that isn't bullying and isn't full on enemies to Lover's in the first book. There's just enough enemies to lovers sprinkled in.

I felt like the relationships evolved organically from the situation. Such an enjoyable story, a great ride. Definitely recommend this audiobook :)

Loved the beginning of this series

Oh boy this story kept me on the edge of my seat half the time and the other half I was either debating how things were going to play out. I loved the connections she was making with Jace, Apollo and Wolfe. And that cliffhanger had me sitting there wondering how to go on with everything in such a precarious spot. I hate cliffhangers but again and again can’t stop devouring S. Massery’s books.

Increible RH dark romance

Holy hotness! what have I just read? This book hooked me from the start and didn't let me go. Now I need to process everything. Kora is such an amazing and interesting character, I love the way S. Massery developed her. The guys Jace, Apollo, and Wolfe, well this is an RH and the start of the series so I will leave them up for you to decide. It was a steamy read, with a trigger for some readers, it will have you reading all night long and then leave you wanting more, but so worth it! Narration by Addison Barnes and Tyler Darby was pretty good on this title, worth getting it.
